What Future For Star-Lord Will Avengers: Endgame Tease?
Despite this monumental error in the minds of most, Star-Lord will still go on to lead the Guardians of the Galaxy after Avengers: Endgame concludes. Pratt reportedly signed a five-picture deal with Marvel Studios originally, so this will be his fourth appearance so far - leaving one movie left to close out the Guardians trilogy. Disney may have fired director James Gunn from the project, but Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is still going to happen eventually. They have Gunn's script in place and just now need a director to come aboard who can bring the story to life. And, since the end of the trilogy will likely take place after the events of the last two Avengers movies, it's fair to assume that Star-Lord and the Guardians will be very different when their next movie happens.
For Star-Lord, specifically, his possible failure in Infinity War could show him how he can be a better leader for the team. His recklessness and lack of true command of his team may have cost the galaxy this time, and one would hope that he will vow never to let that happen again. He's the leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy after all, so maybe this will be the push he needs to take this job more seriously and develop more than 12 percent of his plans from now on. This may be even more necessary if Endgame ends with some of the original Avengers dying or retiring too. The Guardians of the Galaxy could be more important than ever to protect the universe, so Star-Lord leading the charge in making sure they can adequately do their jobs and prevent the next Decimation-level event from happening sounds like a logical next step for them.
Depending on how Endgame concludes, however, Star-Lord may not yet be concentrating on the bigger picture and may instead be focused on a more personal quest. Since Gamora was sacrificed for the Soul Stone, she would not be brought back to life if Endgame simply revives those who were dusted. This could lead to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 focusing on a mission to try and bring Gamora back. Her soul could be trapped inside the Soul Stone after all, so they may just need to to find someone who can let her out. Considering the Adam Warlock tease at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and his comic links to the Soul Stone, he could potentially be the key. If saving Gamora does become Star-Lord's post-Endgame goal, then it will be fascinating to see if his story continues beyond it. Pratt previously saying he wants to extend his MCU contract, but he could sacrifice himself to let her live. Star-Lord may very well step up to the plate and be one of the MCU's biggest faces after Avengers: Endgame, so fans should expect some level of teasing for what he could do next.
