The runtime for Avengers: Endgame is reportedly a little more than 3 hours long. This spring, the long-awaited culmination to Marvel Studios' sprawling 22-film Infinity Saga arrives in theaters, and it is understandably one of the most anticipated movies of the year. After Infinity War's emotionally devastating cliffhanger ending, in which Thanos successfully wiped out half of the universe's population, fans are eager to see how the surviving members of Earth's Mightiest reverse the effects of The Decimation and defeat the Mad Titan once and for all.

It goes without saying that Endgame is grand in scope and ambition, with a lot on its plate to tackle. This isn't just the Infinity War sequel, it's also wrapping up more than a decade of storytelling and possibly giving longtime veterans like Iron Man and Captain America fitting sendoffs before the Marvel Cinematic Universe moves on to a new era. With all that in mind, nobody expected Endgame to have a condensed runtime, and now it looks like viewers are going to have to clear a day from their schedules to see the film in theaters.

AMC Theaters' landing page for Endgame had the movie's runtime listed at a whopping 3 hours, 2 minutes. AMC has since updated their page to remove the runtime, but MCU Exchange snagged a screenshot prior to that. It's worth mentioning this information has yet to be confirmed by Disney or Marvel. Screen Rant reached out to Disney for comment and will update this space accordingly.

While this doesn't appear to be Endgame's official runtime, the suggestion it clocks in at 182 minutes is not farfetched. Earlier this month, directors Joe and Anthony Russo locked in their final edit, and they previously implied the film would be at least three hours long. They even said that version of the movie was testing very well, so it seems Marvel is comfortable putting out what would be a proper superhero epic. Of course, the longer the running time, the fewer showings per day theaters can allot (which impacts box office), but everyone involved with Endgame is more concerned with crafting the best narrative. Given everything that has to transpire, anything less than three hours would arguably threaten to shortchange one of the film's many elements.

It's not uncommon for theaters to use placeholders when listing a movie's runtime, so there's an outside chance that could be the case here. Having said that, 3 hours, 2 minutes is oddly specific for a generic placeholder and one would have to imagine Endgame tickets are going to go on sale soon (since the film's about a month away from premiering). It would stand reason to believe that AMC is privy to how long Endgame is as they plan their opening weekend schedule and jumped the gun before Marvel was ready. It will all be confirmed in the near future, but fans should prepare for Avengers by way of Lord of the Rings.
