The final scene shot by Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans for Avengers: Endgame is revealed in a behind-the-scenes video. It's been a year since Marvel Studios' crowning jewel hit theaters, and a lot of people are getting nostalgic over their experience watching the film. As finales are typically tricky to land, directors Joe and Anthony Russo, with writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, landed a satisfying conclusion which was both a critical and commercial hit.

Aside from wrapping up the 22-film journey that the MCU began with 2008's Iron Man, Endgame also marked the final chapter from some of the franchise's founding heroes. Aside from bidding the fictional characters goodbye, it was also emotional saying farewell to the actors who played them, especially since they had been in the universe since Phase 1. In a new set video, fans can take a peek at what Downey and Evans' final Avengers: Endgame scene was, and given how important that bit is in the film, it kind of makes sense.

The Russos participated in a watch party for Endgame to commemorate its first year anniversary of hitting theaters. Aside from giving commentary, they also opted to share never-before-seen footage from the set of the film. That includes a BTS clip of Tony and Cap's "do you trust me" moment in the film, just before they traveled from 2012 New York to the 1970s to pick up the Tesseract/Space Stone and more Pym Particles. Check it out below:

As fans can see, the video is taken from Ant-Man's (Paul Rudd) point of view, as he gave them a fair warning they might not be able to return to the present MCU timeline if they failed. Apparently, this was also the last time Downey and Evans shared the screen together as Iron Man and Captain America, as this was at the tail end of Avengers: Endgame's principal photography. Set photos of this particular sequence leaked online shortly after they filmed it, but because Marvel Studios was so secretive about the film before its release, no one really knew what was going on in it. In hindsight, it makes sense why they would shoot this as their very last day of main production, since it was an outside shoot where they would be unable to really secure the whole area. To combat this, they simply used Tony and Cap's handshake in the film's marketing so as to get ahead of any other potential leaks at that time.

It's worth noting this was at the end of the movie's principal photography, and there were additional filming done after this that includes Tony's "I am Iron Man" moment. It's unknown if Downey and Evans re-did any new scenes together for the reshoots. Still, it's quite emotional seeing them wrap for Avengers: Endgame. Admittedly, the MCU will never look and feel the same with both actors and their respective characters now officially out of the franchise, especially since they'd been a fixture in the universe since its early years. Fortunately, fans cans simply revisit these films when they're feeling a bit nostalgic - much more so now since the start of Phase 4 is significantly delayed.
