Marvel Studios' Avengers: Endgame is officially the most tweeted about film ever. The latest film in the MCU is doing exceptionally well, also becoming the third highest rated movie on IMDb in less than a week.

There is simply no stopping the continued impact of Endgame. It is the first film to cross the $1 billion mark in its opening weekend. To put that in perspective, it took Star Wars: The Force Awakens 12 days to achieve $1 billion. Although it's still early, Endgame has a chance to make it all the way to the top in box office gross. It will surpass Jurassic World, and likely go into $2 billion territory. It remains to be seen if it can eventually surpass Avatar, which is still the highest grossing film of all time.

Today, Twitter Movies confirmed Avengers: Endgame is the most tweeted about movie of all time. Yes, it has had even more Twitter discussion than Avengers: Infinity War and Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The previous record holder was Black Panther, with over 35 million Tweets. According to Twitter, Endgame has seen 50 million Tweets.

This news does not come as a surprise. Endgame is the culmination of 11 years of stories, from Iron Man to Captain Marvel. Marvel Studios has created a universe of characters audiences love to see. Endgame has set itself up as the big conclusion to the current saga, making it the event film of the year. Thanks to the massive success of Marvel's films, the comic book genre is one of the most popular in Hollywood. As Endgame shows, audiences are willing to get invested in characters over the course of multiple films. Not every comic book film outside Marvel has succeeded however, showing that it is not easy to replicate the MCU's success. Thanks to Endgame's money making, the MCU's worldwide gross has surpassed $20 billion. Endgame is being discussed all over the world.

At the moment, it seems like the only upcoming film that has a chance at surpassing Endgame's popularity is Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Both films are actually similar in that they provide closure to their respective sagas. Of course, the difference here is that while Avengers: Endgame works as a conclusion, it also sets up developments for future films and shows. With Rise of Skywalker, this appears to be the last main Stars Wars movie for the time being. It will be very interesting to see how the two compare in box office and discussion. Either way, it's a win for Disney.
