New Avengers: Endgame fan art imagines what it would've looked like if MCU villains fought Thanos instead. Marvel Studios may have moved onto Phase 4 with WandaVision. Still, the Infinity Saga will always be a favorite topic of conversation for MCU fans, particularly Joe and Anthony Russo's culminating film, mainly because of the many memorable moments in them.

That includes the massive final battle in Endgame, which assembled all the MCU heroes to fight Thanos and his minions. After the success of the time heist and Smart Hulk's reverse snap, everyone who was dusted from the Mad Titan's snap in Avengers: Infinity War made their way to the Avengers HQ just in time to provide back-up to Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor. The whole action sequence featured a lot of cool stunts, not to mention great character moments. But how would things be different if the MCU villains teamed up to take down Thanos instead of the heroes?

This alternate scenario is precisely the inspiration behind the latest artwork from digital-artists Leroy Fernandes and Saif Z.K. The fan-art features the Mad Titan fending off other MCU bad guys like Iron Monger, Ultron, Yellow Jacket, Hela, Vulture, and Red Skull, in an Endgame-inspired battle landscape. Check it out below:

While the MCU is known for their one-off villains, some of those featured in the above art survived their respective first foray, with Red Skull even factoring into Infinity War and Endgame. It's unknown if those still lingering in the MCU will make their re-emergence, although Vulture has already resurfaced in the trailer for Sony's Morbius movie. Meanwhile, some who may have been presumed dead, like Ultron and Killmonger, could be brought back for storytelling purposes. Ultron, in particular, was just recently name-dropped in WandaVision, and considering how instrumental he is to Scarlet Witch's arc, it's not out of the realm of possibility that he'll be featured in some form.

Other than the battle itself, this Thanos fighting MCU villains alternate Avengers: Endgame scenario also raises questions about what went down in their respective battles against the franchise's heroes. Unlike the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy, already fully formed teams when they battled Thanos, it's curious how these bad guys came together in the first place. It's an exciting notion because this changes so much in the universe's history. Perhaps Marvel Studios can further explore the idea through their Disney+ series, What If...?
