Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige refers to Avengers: Endgame as the final Avengers film. Joe and Anthony Russo's 2019 film culminated the Infinity Saga; it marked the end of the MCU's first chapter with the defeat of Thanos (Josh Brolin). However, it may also very well be the final film centered on Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

The MCU was kicked off in 2008 via Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Jr.'s  Iron Man, but it wasn't until 2012's The Avengers that Feige's plan for an interconnected franchise was solidified. Its success further motivated Marvel Studios in pushing forward and building its universe. As it exponentially grew over the course of three Phases, the Infinity Saga finally came to an end with Avengers: Endgame. Amidst a string of disappointing finales, the Russos miraculously delivered a satisfying cap-off not only to its collective story but also to some characters' individual arcs.

Fans knew that after Avengers: Endgame, it would take quite a while before another Avengers film would be released. But now, Feige is suggesting that there may no longer be more of them. During his commentary on Marvel Studios Assembled: The Making of Eternals (via Comic Book), the MCU architect implies that they've completed the Infinity Saga with "the final Avengers movie." Read his full comment below:

"Marvel Studios and the Marvel Cinematic Universe is now past their tenth anniversary and with the release of the final Avengers movie, we've finally completed a 22-movie Infinity Saga."

Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Black Widow (Scarlett Johanssen), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), and Captain America (Chris Evans) stand ready to arrest Loki (Tom Hiddleston)

Obviously, this documentary was filmed during the principal photography of Eternals, so not long after Avengers: Endgame hit theaters. So perhaps, Feige was referring to it as their latest Avengers film or the final one in the Infinity Saga. That being said, the producer is known to also be very careful with how to phrase his answers. In fact, he's mastered the art of giving non-answers whenever outlets try to get classified information from him. So, the aforementioned comment could also be intentional. In the grand scheme of things, however, it's difficult to believe that Marvel Studios will no longer produce Avengers movies. Regardless of how big the franchise has gotten, Earth's Mightiest Heroes remains their banner superhero team. It's just that it might take a while before Avengers 5 is officially rolled out.

In the meantime, Marvel Studios is focusing on standalone projects. But just because they're not under the Avengers banner, it doesn't mean that the MCU can't make them ensemble stories. For starters, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is already shaping up to be a star-studded blockbuster, with Patrick Stewart's Professor X only one of the many expected cameos in it. Going this creative route allows Feige to still make crossover movies while also slowly building its next overarching narrative after Avengers: Endgame.
