Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson is among those few who know the basic story for Avengers: Endgame, and teased it will be better than Avengers: Infinity War. The hype for the upcoming Avengers film is at its peak, with fans all over the world spending hours to get tickets on presale and thus breaking sites everywhere.

Avengers: Endgame will mark the culmination of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we have come to know it, in a story that has been building up since the release of Iron Man in 2008. So yes, it’s a big deal for fans who have been following this story for years. In typical Marvel fashion, plot details have been kept under wraps for months, making way to a bunch theories that go from believable to funny (and a bit gross). Still, Endgame promises to be one of the best products from the MCU, and director Scott Derrickson confirms it will be something incredible.

Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson shared on his Twitter account a quick story about Avengers director Joe Russo and Endgame. Derrickson said that he came across Russo, who pitched him the story for Infinity War and Endgame. Derrickson shares he told Russo that if the first movie worked, then the second one would be incredible. Needless to say, Infinity War worked very well.

Avengers: Infinity War became the highest-grossing superhero film, broke numerous box office records, and was one of the most expensive films ever made. In addition to that, it had the largest superhero roster we’ve seen to date, with most of the heroes of the MCU working together to stop Thanos from wiping out half the universe. Not to mention the emotional impact that Thanos’ actions throughout the story had on the audience.

As mentioned above, plot details on Endgame are a mystery, but one of the theories that has gained a lot of attention is that of time traveling. The theory is backed by some set photos showing Captain America in his 2012 suit, among other details. Plus, some vanished heroes such as Spider-Man are set to come back, so the time travel theory is not an impossible thought, more so if we add the role of the Quantum Realm to the mix. If this turns out to be true, it’s easy to see why Derrickson found the story “incredible.”

In addition to the rescue of the fallen heroes and the potential end of some of the original superheroes, Avengers: Endgame will be an even bigger emotional ride as it will feature Stan Lee’s final cameo. If there’s something we can be sure of, it's that this film will mark the lives of Marvel fans on many levels and even more than Infinity War already did.
