Avengers: Endgame writers reveal who Smart Hulk was going to meet in the Soul World within the Soul Stone after he snapped. After the green-rage monster survived his initial bout with Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, he was missing for the rest of the movie as Bruce Banner failed to bring him out numerous times. It wasn't until five years following the snap when he emerged, but this time, with the consciousness of his human alter-ego.

Making up for his absence in the Avengers' first face-off with Thanos, Smart Hulk was involved in their mission to reverse the snap in Endgame. He was on board right away when the idea of the time heist first came up, he personally picked up Thor for the mission and finally, he volunteered to execute the snap that brought back those dusted by Thanos' decimation. As one of the only three people who have wielded the power of all six Infinity Stones, many are curious if the filmmakers thought about what Smart Hulk's time in the Soul World would be like. According to Endgame's writers, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, there are two people he might have met in the dimension if they included a scene for him.

Joining directors Joe and Anthony Russo during a watch party for Endgame, Markus and McFeely also provided live commentary on the film, as well as answers to fans questions. One asked them if there was an idea for Smart Hulk to meet Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow in the Soul World after his snap. They said that it was an idea tossed around, but they never shot it. They also wrote a scene where he meets Banner in the alternate dimension, but once again, it wasn't filmed. Check out their full replies below:

While both Thanos and Iron Man got their time in the Soul World, only the former's version made it on screen at the end of Infinity War. There, he met a young Gamora, who asked him if he accomplished what he set out to do. The filmmakers ultimately scrapped the Soul World scene for Tony Stark, although the scene was shot with Katherine Langford playing an older Morgan Stark. According to the Russos, viewers didn't resonate with the scene since they don't have a prior encounter with Langford as the grown-up daughter of Tony and Pepper Potts. Nevertheless, fans can watch it since it was released as part of Endgame's deleted scenes.

Either of the proposed ideas of Smart Hulk's trip to the Soul World would arguably work better than the one Tony got since fans know of his relationships with Banner and Natasha. Both played a significant part of his story in the MCU. Marvel Studios has yet to reveal how exactly Smart Hulk was achieved in Avengers: Endgame, and if they're planning on further exploring that, a dialog between him and Banner would be an interesting tease. Meanwhile, a conversation between Smart Hulk and Natasha could mark the end of their tragic love story - something Marvel didn't really delve into beyond starting their affair. The problem was, there was no time for this in Avengers: Endgame since right after he snapped, Thanos from 2014 quickly attacked the Avengers HQ leaving them all under the rubble.
