The Avengers: Endgame cast opens up about the emotional process of filming the movie in a new featurette. Aside from being the culminating film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Joe and Anthony-directed flick also wrapped up several arcs of fan-favorite characters. Marking the end of 22-film arc known as The Infinity Saga, Endgame was also the swan song for beloved actors and the heroes they play, marjority of them had been in the series since its early years. That includes half of the core six Avengers: Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark/Iron Man and Scarlett Johansson's Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow, as well as Chris Evans' Steve Rogers/Captain America.

Picking up after the catastrophic ending of Avengers: Infinity War, Endgame was set up in a way that focus was on the original Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Each of them were given ample screen time, with a couple of them, particularly Iron Man and Captain America, effectively wrapping up their stints through the film. With emotions running high throughout the entire production process, some of the movie's cast members reminisce their experience working on the project.

Knowing that Endgame could potentially be the last time they will work together under the MCU umbrella, the actors were understandably nostalgic during the production of the film. And in a newly released featurette, some of them including Evans, Mark Ruffalo, and Chris Hemsworth openly talk about how they felt while working on the blockbuster. Check out the clip below shared by Marvel Studios' official Twitter.

Evans famously posted a social media letter following him wrapping up on Endgame which began rumors of Captain America's fate in the film. But truthfully, among those who wrapped up their MCU journey via the film, only Downey's Stark will be quite difficult to bring back. Not just because he physically died, but because the narrative boiled down to his sacrifice. Nat's also technically dead, but Johansson is already due for another outing with the long-overdue Black Widow standalone now in production. Rogers, on the other hand, may have gone and stayed back in time, not to mention pass the shield to Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), but there's optimism that somehow, Marvel Studios will get back to him one way or another. That leaves Hulk (Ruffalo), Thor (Hemsworth), and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) still lurking in the franchise. And while there's no official Avengers team, it's only a matter of time before they re-assemble.

Marvel Studios actors, particularly its principal cast, have long raved about their great experience working in MCU films, so there's really nothing new to hearing these actors talk about how emotional it was filming Avengers: Endgame. However, possibly a more effective way to drive the point are the BTS scenes intercut with their commentary. The actors seem to have a great time with each other. Considering how long several of them had been in the film series, they've gotten comfortable around each other, most of them forming genuine friendships off-screen, and that's arguably a great selling point for the franchise as a whole.
