New fan art replaces every character on the latest Avengers: Endgame poster with the true hero of the MCU, Captain Marvel's Goose the Cat. With mere weeks remaining before the next Avengers film answers all the many gripping questions left over from Avengers: Infinity War, Marvel has dropped a surprise new trailer that finally shows Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel interacting with members of the Avengers (specifically Thor). Marvel also released a new poster that immediately created outrage due to the omission of Okoye actor Danai Gurira's name from the cast list.
Of course, it's long been expected that Captain Marvel would figure heavily in the final (at least for now) chapter of the Avengers saga. With the Captain Marvel origin movie now out and tearing up the box office, fans have a much better idea of what Brie Larson's Carol Danvers is all about (and Thanos should probably be worried). In addition, Captain Marvel also introduced fans to another potentially important MCU character in Goose the Cat, Carol Danvers' plucky feline companion who's in fact not what she seems.
Indeed, fans have already fallen in love with Goose the Cat and are anticipating the role she might play in Avengers: Endgame. On Twitter, For All the Nerds posted a piece by Mister Morris that goes so far as to imagine Goose completely taking over Endgame by replacing all the characters in the newly released poster (save for Thanos) with their favorite cat/alien hero. See the art below:
Amazon Crime's Goose art was actually inspired by the controversy that erupted in the hours after Marvel dropped the new Endgame trailer and poster. After the poster had made its way around the internet, many fans angrily noted that Danai Gurira, who played Okoye in Black Panther and Infinity War and is set to be featured in Endgame, was left off the list of credited actors despite her image being featured on the poster. The outrage was strong enough that Marvel quickly released a new poster that rectified the situation. However, other fans began complaining about Goose the Cat being left off the poster entirely, which prompted Amazon Crime to create their all-Goose art.
Goose of course is more than just a mere cat, but is actually an alien called a Flerken who plays a significant role in the action in Captain Marvel (much to the dismay of Nick Fury). What role Goose may play in Avengers: Endgame is anyone's guess at this point, but fans are hoping they get to see a lot of her in the new movie.
