New Avengers: Endgame fan art depicts a heart wrenching scene of Captain America's potential demise. Captain America (Chris Evans) was one of the few Avengers to survive Thanos' snap in Avengers: Infinity War. But there's a good chance he won't be so lucky a second time. Considering how dark Infinity War's ending was and the somber tone of Endgame's trailer, life for those in the MCU is going to get much worse before it gets better with Steve Rogers/Captain America becoming part of the collateral.
Marvel has been keeping any info on Endgame tightly under wraps. But Captain America fans have already begun preparing themselves to see his departure from the MCU. It's no secret that Evans' contract with Marvel has come to its end now that he's concluded filming Endgame. A tweet he posted on his last day of shooting served to strengthen the belief that he will no longer be a part of the MCU once Phase 3 concludes. While Evans has stated he'd be interested in being in Phase 4, there is a good chance his Captain America will be hanging up his shield after Endgame. Because of this, fans theorize that he'll be among the casualties in Avengers 4.
Digital artist BossLogic decided to show how Captain America's death could play out. In a new piece of fan art, he shows Captain America lying dead in the snow, accompanied by the caption "I'm sorry." A Thanos-sized footprint can be spotted tracking through the Avenger's blood. If the drawing wasn't already emotional enough, his photo of Peggy Carter sits just beside his closed fist.
Endgame may spell the end for Evans' Captain America, but the hero's name could live on. Of the many theories floating around there is the possibility Captain America may pass his shield on to Bucky Barnes (or perhaps Sam Wilson). The potential storyline is backed up by the comic books. But considering the popularity of Evans' rendition, it may be wise for Marvel to hold off on replacing him just yet.
With Endgame's secrets being closely kept, any theories about which Avengers live and which ones die will remain up for debate. Seeing as Evans' contract has concluded, odds are he will be among those fans will soon be saying a tearful farewell to. His absence will be felt by all, as he has become one of the most recognizable faces in the MCU. But without any consequences, the film won't pack much of an emotional punch. However and whenever Evans' departs, fans can be sure it will be quite the sendoff.
