New information reveals the MCU film Avengers: Endgame earned Disney close to a $900 million profit. As the fourth film in the Avengers series, Endgame came out in April 2019 to much fanfare. It marked the end of the decade-long Infinity Saga, giving fans extra motivation to turn out. The cliffhanger of 2018's Avengers: Infinity War helped as well, as half of the Marvel heroes were snapped from existence. Endgame was also the end of the line for original Avengers like Iron Man, Black Widow, and Captain America, at least in the present-day timeline.

With all of this anticipation, it's no wonder Avengers: Endgame was a box office hit, smashing records throughout its theatrical run. It first broke Star Wars: The Force Awakens opening night record, before passing $2 billion in only its second weekend of release. The film then shocked movie fans the month after its debut by passing Avatar at the domestic box office. However, Avengers: Endgame wasn't done breaking records at that point. Thanks to a re-release in July, it also topped Avatar's global box office, making it the highest-grossing film of all time.

Now, Deadline reveals more about Disney's profits from the film, which are, as expected, extremely high. The studio made an impressive $890 million from Avengers: Endgame, making its earnings 78% more than Avengers: Infinity War. However, even that movie netted $500 million. While Disney's profits from the film are set in stone, its box office record may not be. Many expect Avatar to take its number 1 spot back with a re-release of its own. It's also possible Avatar 2 will provide some competition for Avengers: Endgame when it's finally released.

Following the conclusion of the Infinity Saga, Marvel looks ahead to Phase 4. This phase will include several upcoming sequels, as well as exciting films with new characters, such as The Eternals and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. It will also integrate the movies and TV shows of the MCU thanks to the streaming service Disney+. There, characters both old and new will appear on the small screen for the first time. Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the MCU is in a state of flux. Several release dates have been changed in the last month, and it seems likely more could be on the way, especially as TV shows and movies are still unable to resume production.

This news about Avengers: Endgame's profit is interesting, especially during this uncertain time. Though Disney was undoubtedly happy about the film's incredible earnings last year, the company is probably even more grateful for them now. As Disney parks and cruise lines have closed and ceased production, the corporation is losing vast amounts of money each day. Hopefully, the impressive net profit of Avengers: Endgame has provided Disney with a little more security while struggling with the coronavirus crisis.
