Avengers: Endgame is now available on Disney+ and it arrived with a number of deleted scenes, including one where Star-Lord plays peacemaker between Iron Man and Doctor Strange. Disney+ has officially launched in the U.S., Canada, and the Netherlands, and offers a wide variety of content from Disney’s main entertainment studios, such as Walt Disney Pictures, Pixar, Lucasfilm, and Marvel Studios. Disney+ will be home to most of Marvel’s Infinity saga, and its biggest adventure to date, Avengers: Endgame, is now available to stream.

Avengers: Endgame dealt with the aftermath of Thanos’ snap in Avengers: Infinity War and followed the surviving heroes as they found a way to undo the snap and get rid of Thanos and his allies once and for all. Unlike Avengers: Infinity War, which had most of the heroes from the Marvel Cinematic Universe fighting against Thanos’ armies in different parts of the universe, Avengers: Endgame brought them all together on Earth – and of course, their personalities had to clash at some point, even if they were extra busy fighting Thanos and company.

Among the Avengers: Endgame deleted scenes shared on Disney+ is one that mirrors one of Avengers: Infinity War’s most talked about moments, only the two characters involvedswitched roles this time: Iron Man and Star-Lord. The scene takes place in the trench when all the heroes reunite after the Hulk reversed the snap and once Thanos arrived on Earth. Tony Stark walks up to Doctor Strange to confront him about the millions of possible outcomes he saw in Avengers: Infinity War, only he didn’t do it in a particularly calm manner. Instead, Tony loses his temper, and Star-Lord jumps in to stop them from fighting (and calling Strange “Doctor Weird”, because, well, it’s Star-Lord).

Avengers Endgame Doctor Strange

In Avengers: Infinity War, one of the most criticized moments was when the remaining Guardians, Nebula, Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Doctor Strange came up with a plan to subdue Thanos and take the Infinity Gauntlet. As they were about to remove the gauntlet, Star-Lord learned that Thanos killed Gamora, and had an emotional breakdown that allowed Thanos to break free, despite the efforts of those around him, including Iron Man. This deleted scene instead has Star-Lord as the “voice of reason” and Iron Man as the one being led by his emotions.

Many fans blamed Star-Lord for the team’s failure in stopping Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, but in the end, it was all part of a bigger plan. Star-Lord had reasons to react that way (he’s half-human, after all!), and it wasn’t entirely his fault. Some might argue that the one to blame is Thor for not decapitating Thanos when he could, but Avengers: Endgame showed that the God of Thunder was aware of that and dealt with guilt for years.

It’s easy to see why this Iron Man/Star-Lord/Doctor Strange scene was deleted, as it didn’t really bring anything to the mix, and the exchange between Iron Man and Strange that made it to the final cut works much better in terms of emotional impact, but it’s fun to see how Avengers: Endgame mirrored some moments from Avengers: Infinity War with a few tweaks.
