New concept art from Avengers: Endgame shows an early design for Captain Marvel's (Brie Larson) suit. Endgame was released nearly a year ago, yet new information and concept art from the epic film is constantly emerging. From Thanos (Josh Brolin) breaking Captain America's (Chris Evans) shield to Nebula (Karen Gillan) wielding the Infinity Gauntlet, fans have gotten several glimpses at the many directions Endgame could have taken. With $2.8 billion worldwide, Endgame still holds the title for the highest-grossing movie of all time.

Larson's Carol Danvers was hinted at in the post-credits scene for Avengers: Infinity War before debuting in her own solo film in March 2019. Captain Marvel was a verifiable hit and established Carol as one of the most powerful characters in the MCU. The film ended with Carol heading off into deep space to help find a new home for the Skrulls, and Endgame marked (possibly) the first time she returned to Earth since then. While her role in Endgame was small, Carol played a crucial role in the final battle against Thanos. Captain Marvel 2 was recently confirmed to be in development, though it hasn't received an official release date.

Marvel's director of visual development, Andy Park, shared the Captain Marvel designs on InstagramAs he describes, the costume itself is the same one Carol wore in the movie, but it'd "be weathered from battles through the years." Additionally, it would feature Carol's standard sash from the comics. Check out the designs below:

It's not clear exactly what Carol has been up to in the years between Captain Marvel and Endgame, but fans are certainly curious. Carol alluded to some of the battles she's been a part of in Endgame when Rhodey (Don Cheadle) questioned where she'd been all this time. Considering how Captain Marvel ended with Carol vowing to take down the Kree's Supreme Intelligence, that could have been one of the things taking up her time. The real question is, will that be the subject of Captain Marvel 2, or will it focus on a completely different story?

Despite Captain Marvel arriving in theaters before Endgamethe 3-hour Avengers movie was actually the first time Larson played Carol. That means she and Marvel were still trying to work out the best way to depict her in the MCU, which could be the reason Park's designs were never fully utilized. Regardless, the concept art tells a story about Carol's off-screen adventures, and it's interesting to see the level of detail that was considered for the film. Hopefully Captain Marvel 2 will feature some fun new looks for Carol as she continues to save the universe.
