Warning: This article contains MAJOR SPOILERS for Avengers: Endgame

Avengers: Endgame features an emotional funeral for Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.), who sacrificed himself to ensure Thanos' (Josh Brolin) defeat. Considering that Tony is the man who kicked off the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it makes sense that every single hero that came after him paid respects as he was laid to rest - along with many other characters from the MCU.

In the movie, the Avengers succeeded in bringing back everyone who was killed by Thanos snap, but with the Mad Titan threatening to undo their efforts and destroy the entire universe as well, Earth's Mightiest Heroes had to take him down. Despite a slew of heroes taking their shot of bringing the villain down, Endgame's final battle boiled down to Tony using the Infinity Stones and snapping his fingers to "dust" Thanos and his army. Unfortunately, the burst of power from the Stones cost Tony his life.

After Tony's family and closest friends watched his pre-emptive farewell message, the whole MCU lined-up as Pepper and Morgan sent off his very first arc reactor in the lake by their family home. In the scene, we see almost everyone in the franchise paying their final respects for the man who gave up his life to ensure the universe's future. After Tony's immediate family, there are his oldest friends, Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau) and Rhodey/War Machine (Don Cheadle) followed by Captain America, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo). A very somber Peter Parker was also near the front of the line, accompanied by his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei).

Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Wong (Benedict Wong) were next in line, followed by the Pyms: Hank (Michael Douglas), Janet (Michelle Pfeiffer), and Hope van Dyne/Wasp (Evangeline Lilly) alongside Scott Lang. The current roster of the Guardians of the Galaxy: Nebula, Peter Quill/Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Drax (Dave Bautista), Rocket (Bradley Cooper), Teenage Groot (Vin Diesel) and Mantis (Pom Klementieff), whom Tony spent a good amount of time with during Infinity War and Endgame, were also present. Meanwhile, T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman) represented Wakanda with Okoye (Danai Gurira), and Shuri (Letitia Wright).

Tony's fellow founding Avengers member, Clint Barton/Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) brought all his three children, and wife, Laura (Linda Cardellini) to the memorial. Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), and Sam Wilson/Falcon (Anthony Mackie) were all huddled together. Tony's Iron Man 3 pal, Harley Keener (Ty Simpkins), Maria Hill (Colbie Smulders), Thunderbolt Ross (William Hurt), and Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel rounded out the attendees. Finally, Nick Fury (Sam Jackson) quietly walked in to pay his respects.

Tony's memorial scene was laid out in a way to highlight every single MCU sub-franchise that was built on the back of Iron ManAvengers: Endgame marking the death of the franchise's founding hero not only means that we're saying goodbye to Tony Stark, but also Robert Downey, Jr., who has led the franchise for more than a decade.
