Marvel Studios officially announces the Digital and Blu-ray release dates for Avengers: Endgame. Premiering in theaters back in April, the blockbuster served as the culmination of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Infinity Saga, wrapping up story threads and character arcs that had been ongoing for the past decade. While the film was always expected to do very well at the box office, few could have anticipated the record-shattering run Endgame went on, as it earned $1.2 billion in its opening weekend alone. As of this writing, the movie stands at $2.751 billion globally.

Endgame was such a massive draw that it is still playing in theaters two month after its debut. As a matter of fact, Marvel is giving the epic event a re-release this weekend, featuring added bonuses after the credits. Fans have certainly enjoyed seeing the latest Avengers film on the big screen over and over again, but many were probably wondering when they'd be able to experience the story again from the comfort of their own homes. Now, that has been revealed.

Today, Marvel Studios announced Avengers: Endgame will be available on Digital July 30, with the physical Blu-ray release hitting shelves on August 13. You can watch a trailer for the home media release in the space below:

Unsurprisingly, Endgame will come loaded with special features on home media. In addition to the customary deleted scenes and blooper reel, there will also be a tribute to the late Stan Lee (who passed away in November 2018); featurettes on Robert Downey Jr.'s casting as Iron Man, Captain America's evolution, and Black Widow's arc; a look at the creation of "Bro Thor"; a making-of on the all-women team-up sequence during the final battle, and much more. It's a nice touch that Iron Man, Captain America, and Black Widow are being singled out for their own retrospectives, considering the events of Endgame. Scarlett Johansson is returning for her solo film, but these characters' journeys are essentially done. Tony and Natasha both died to help save the universe, while Steve opted to go back to the past and live the normal life he always deserved. On that note, those who get Endgame on Digital will be treated to an exclusive special feature about Steve and Peggy.

The timing of this announcement is, admittedly, odd. Marvel had been building up hype for the Endgame re-release, which is said to include an unfinished deleted scene and a tribute (most likely the Stan Lee one that'll be on the Blu-ray). From a certain point of view, it might have made more sense to hold off on revealing the Blu-ray details until after the re-release has been in theaters for a few weeks. Die-hards are going to show up for the so-called "Bring Back" edition, but casual audiences may opt to just wait and catch Endgame again at home a month from now. It'll be interesting to see if this sabotages Endgame's chances of beating Avatar at the global box office.
