A new featurette features Marvel Studios' actresses reflecting on working on Avengers: Endgame's famous A-Force scene. All Marvel Cinematic Universe heroes gather together for a massive final battle against Thanos (Josh Brolin). The set piece was chock-full of iconic moments, including Captain America (Chris Evans) finally uttering the words "Avengers Assemble" and Tony Stark's (Robert Downey Jr.) "I am Iron Man" line. But another favorite bit from the sequence was the gathering of all female heroes as the back Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) up against the Mad Titan's minions.
While the scene is epic in its final battle, it generated varying opinions. Some liked it all around; others thought it was pandering, while few thought it was totally unnecessary. Regardless of what one thought about it, the actresses behind these female heroes seemed to have enjoyed working on that specific scene very much evidenced in a new featurette for Endgame.
Marvel Studios (via MCU Girl) releases a new video for Endgame in light of its upcoming Home Entertainment format release. The clip takes fans behind-the-scenes of filming the movie's A-Force scene. It also features commentary from the women of Marvel who were all clearly ecstatic about the sequence. Watch the clip below:
Prior to this featurette, fans have had a snippet of the women of Marvel in a set image when Downey threw a lunch exclusively for the actresses. There was an even earlier photo of them together before fans even know about the A-Force scene in Endgame during the class photo for the MCU to celebrate its 10th anniversary. And in all occasions, it's clear that everyone has good rapport with each other. This could fuel calls for an all female hero Marvel Studios project. Kevin Feige and his team have been openly teasing about more women key player in the MCU, whether or not that leads into the proposed project is another conversation, but many takes this is a positive sign towards making it happen eventually.
With the public being more mindful of casting diversity and giving equal opportunities to all, big studios like Marvel Studios are making a conscious effort to diversify their roster of talent. The respective box office of Black Panther and Captain Marvel prove that viewing audience is craving more diversified stories. However Feige decides to push through with the proposed A-Force film (or if he ever considers it), it doesn't seem like it'll be too difficult to cajole all these actors back to reprise their roles for the project evidenced by this new Endgame featurette.
Avengers: Endgame will be available on digital on July 30, and on Blu-ray on August 13.
