Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch's power levels cause controversy on Twitter as fans build their dream Avengers teams. Debuting in Joss Whedon's 2015 movie, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Wanda was initially portrayed as a villain. She and her twin brother Pietro/Quicksilver teamed up with Ultron against the heroes in an effort to avenge the destruction of Sokovia. In the same movie, she redeemed herself and since then  has been one of the good guys.

Dubbed one of the strongest heroes in the comics, Marvel Studios has yet to fully explore Wanda's powers on the big screen. She's appeared in multiple films since her debut, but fans haven't really seen her use the full extent of her abilities. Granted there were moments where this was hinted, particularly during the two times that she faced Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, it's just not enough to establish her as primary player in the MCU.

Things are starting to change, however, as the character trends on Twitter after EW came up with a game that asks the public to build their own Avengers team given a limited amount of funds or members. Each hero is tagged with the price, with the premier ones like the original Earth's Mightiest Heroes given a higher tag, while the supporting ones are cheaper. Interestingly, Scarlet Witch is down the list despite the fact that she would be a great asset in any team given her immense power set.

Since the makers of the game don't really explain the positioning of the heroes in their selection board, seeing Wanda all the way down the list was confusing for a lot of people. It doesn't appear to be based on power set considering that both Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) - albeit great super assassins, don't have any super capabilities - are way up the board. Aside from Scarlet Witch, Vision (Paul Bettany) is also down the list which proves this idea. From the looks of it, the hierarchy is based on the heroes' popularity. That explains why the original Avengers, regardless of their skills sets, are tagged premier characters since fans are more familiar to them since they were in the MCU the longest.

With Wanda finally getting her due with the upcoming WandaVision TV series for Disney+, it's safe to assume that her popularity will significantly increase. Up until Phase 3, she's been treated as a supporting player since MCU is fully stacked with characters - each with their own quirks that appeal to the public. The problem is, Scarlet Witch just hasn't gotten her full time under the spotlight yet which will hopefully get remedied with her headlining project. MCU architect Kevin Feige's comments about her being the strongest hero in the universe can also be indicative of the kind of future she has in the franchise. So while the general viewing audience isn't exactly invested in Wanda just yet, that's expected to change moving forward as she emerges to become of the most important Avengers.
