Assuming you're not already suffering from an overload of Marvel movie media material (there's a tongue-twister) from watching every other snippet of footage or behind-the-scenes featurette that's been unveiled as promotion for Joss Whedon's The Avengers so far, you should check out the above clip. It offers a brief, but tantalizing, glimpse at the throwdown between mere mortal Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) - aided by "only" his Mark VI Iron Man armor - and the God of Thunder, Thor Odinson (Chris Hemsworth).
No doubt the clip could raise a few questions, such as the over-arching context for this fight as well as whether or not it's "realistic" that Iron Man could hold his own against a legitimate "deity" (or absorb lightning, like he does) - so feel free to debate those as you wish in the comments section.
Whether it is Thor's fuller use of his powers, like in the clip above, or that Avengers trailer bit where Hulk catches a free-falling Iron Man, Marvel's biggest and longest (minds out of the gutter, now) movie to date looks to provide exactly the sort of entertainment that dedicated comic book enthusiasts have been hoping for.
Early word of mouth also indicates that Whedon and Co. have successfully delivered a film experience that will satisfy casual viewers and the more ardent Marvel fans alike - through a combination of geekgasm-inducing moments, great action, and a tone that varies from tongue-in-cheek to heavy and serious, when the occasion calls for it.
In case you missed them, be sure to also check out the previous Avengers clips:
The Avengers stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Hiddleston, Clark Gregg, and Cobie Smulders.
Look for The Avengers to assemble in theaters (2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D) around the U.S. on May 4th, 2012.
