Warning! Spoilers for Avengers #48 below

After the Winter Guard compromised the Avengers Celestial base and captured She-Hulk, the Avengers quickly realized they were in trouble. However, Marvel's new Winter Hulk might not be the superteam's most significant problem in the future, as Avengers #48 revealed Avengers Mountain has been infected with a concoction from Dracula and it could lead to the creation of the most terrifying Celestial to date.

In current Avengers comics, the iconic team's base is literally inside the body of the first Celestial to visit Earth - as the Progenitor came to the planet to die as its body froze in the Arctic Circle. Wakanda's greatest minds came together to outfit the insides of the Celestial to create a new base of operations for the Avengers. But, ever since the Avengers made the Celestial their home, it seemed like they started a ticking time bomb if the massive cosmic being ever awakened. In the latest issue of the Avengers, Marvel gave the first hint that could happen soon.

In Avengers #48 by Jason Aaron, Javier Garron, David Curiel, and VC's Cory Petit, Blade arrives in Chernobyl, where he discovers She-Hulk has attacked the vampire nation. While Blade is happy to see a significant number of vampires destroyed in the attack, when he checks in with Black Panther, he's informed the Winter Guard's attack led to Avengers Mountain being poisoned. T'Challa tells Blade that when Gorilla-Man betrayed the team, he infected their Celestial base with a necrotizing super-pathogen. The vampire hunter immediately notes it is a "weaponized Dracula juice."

Avengers Celestial Base

Blade jokes that he's the perfect person to take down a 2,000 foot-tall vampire - but Black Panther tells him to worry about She-Hulk, as he'll figure out what's wrong with the Celestial base. Dracula's presence has loomed large in the current Avengers arc, as the Winter Guard even used vampires to keep She-Hulk contained. So, if the supervillain infected Avengers Mountain and gets a Celestial on his side, it would be quite the power move.

Black Panther might not be overly worried about the potential infection of Avengers Mountain, but it could create severe problems for the Avengers in the future. Their Celestial base isn't just an essential part of their operations, but if it somehow is brought back from the dead, it could become one of their most dangerous foes ever. Dracula might have gained the upper hand against the Avengers if the Celestial base turns against them - as it would be the worst-case scenario for the superteam. Avengers #48 is in comic book stores now.
