The latest update for Disneyland's Avengers Campus teases an immersive experience for MCU fans. Over the years, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has grown to be one of the biggest pop culture franchises of all time, so it's no surprise that Disney is interested in bringing it into its theme park sphere. Once planned to open in July 2020, the Avengers Campus will feature numerous attractions set within the broader Marvel universe, like the Pym Test Kitchen restaurant and Web-Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure. To prove just how connected Avengers Campus is to the MCU, Tom Holland has provided his voice for the aforementioned Spider-Man ride.

Avengers Campus was officially announced in late 2019, and last year would have featured its grand opening in Disneyland had the coronavirus pandemic not shut down amusement parks for much of the year. It's expected Avengers Campus will finally open in 2021, though the specific date has yet to be announced. Presumably, it will happen later this year, particularly since work still needs to be completed on the area. However, the latest update from Disneyland executives sounds very promising.

In a letter to Disneyland cast members, President Ken Potrock gave some insight into where the Avengers Campus is at in regards to opening (via CinemaBlend). While he emphasized they aren't quite ready for a proper unveiling, he did say he's pleased with the progress being made. According to Potrock, Avengers Campus is shaping up to be an incredible experience fans will love. He said:

I’m pleased to report that Avengers Campus is making incredible progress. From the futuristic architecture, theatrical lighting, unique audio, creative food, beautiful costuming and innovative merchandise, the land will be an immersive experience that we know our Guests are going to love. And while we aren’t ready to reveal Avengers Campus to the world just yet, I am excited about another very special opportunity we have at Disney California Adventure Park that speaks to our top priorities: getting more Cast Members back to work and engaging with our Guests in different and relevant ways.

Avengers Campus Spider-Man

In recent years, numerous movie franchises have spawned theme park attractions, from Harry Potter to Star Wars. It's fitting Marvel will be the next to join them, and if it ends up anything like Universal's Wizarding World or Disney's Galaxy's Edge, it's safe to say attendees will be very, very pleased. Disney has an excellent track record when it comes to its theme parks, and everything that's been reported so far sounds promising.

Avengers Campus has the opportunity to finally bring the MCU directly to fans in a way that's never been done before. People will have the opportunity to interact with heroes like Black Panther and Doctor Strange, thus allowing them to pretend they're in the movies themselves. At the same time, Avengers Campus won't be quite the same as the MCU that lives on the big screen, since it will exist in a world without the infamous Thanos Snap. Nevertheless, it sounds like it is going to be quite an impressive feat of worldbuilding, and we can't wait to visit.
