The Walt Disney Parks are set for a brand new expansion, which will see the Marvel Universe collide with some of the company's other famous characters. A concept that has been in development for quite some time, fans are excited to finally be able to step into the Avenger Campus.

Pitched as the place to be for any budding superhero, there will be a range of new attractions, guest experiences, and unique facilities to enjoy. While there have been Marvel properties that have had a presence at the Parks in the past, this is a complete overhaul of the IP at these theme parks (with lots of news as to exactly what fans can expect!)

Multiple Parks

Much like Galaxy's Edge and Pandora, the Avengers Campus is set to make an impact at multiple Parks across the world. While fans in the United States might be gearing up for the California Adventure expansion, the Parks in both Hong Kong and Paris will also see the arrival of the Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

There are certain restrictions in place, due to contracts with Universal Studios, which means that Disney's Parks in Orlando, Florida will likely not see an expansion of this kind for quite some time. It also appears that outside of Big Hero 6, neither Shanghai nor Tokyo will be seeing an Avengers update any time soon.

Heroic Encounters

Guests absolutely love experiencing the unique encounters that they can only have at the Disney Parks. Whether it's Iron Man, Spider-Man, or Black Widow, plenty of Marvel heroes and even some villains can be found spread across the Parks currently.

This was upped during temporary events, such as the 'Season of Super Heroes.' However, with the arrival of Avengers Campus, these Marvel-themed areas will have more permanent encounter experiences for fans to meet some of their favorite comic book legends.

Expansion Of Mission: Breakout And Seasonal Events

Guardians of the Galaxy Mission Breakout at Disney California Adventure

It was quite the controversial move to take one of Disney's most iconic rides, the Hollywood or Twilight Tower of Terror, and morph it into a Guardian's Of The Galaxy-themed Mission: Breakout. However, it proved to be a monumental success.

Updates to the ride demonstrated the versatility of the shifted attraction and opened the doors to further Marvel expansions at the parks. What's more, the Season of Super Heroes and other themed events also laid the groundwork and tested audiences as to how they would react to the debut of Avengers Campus.

New Hotel

Disneyland Paris Hotel New York – Art of Marvel Hotel

With a new themed area comes brand new facilities and fans will be certainly eager to get to stay at the unique hotels which will be making their way to the Avengers Campus. Disneyland Paris has unveiled a New York-inspired, 'Art Of' hotel, featuring props and comic book art from these iconic heroes.

While none of the other Parks will have this themed hotel currently, Hong Kong Disneyland does boast Iron Man-themed rooms. This type of theme will likely expand with the arrival of Avengers Campus, but the popularity of Disney's Hotel New York: The Art Of Marvel will likely dictate whether more are constructed outside of Paris.

Pym Restaurant

Alongside hotels, fans can also try out some Avengers-themed food, courtesy of the brilliant chefs that work at the Disney Parks. One such restaurant is the Pym Test Kitchen, which plays around with the sizes of both the visitors and its food.

For an easier meal option, other food spots, such as the Avengers Canteen Service, will also be opening to provide alternate options for guests. Fans are definitely hoping to get their hands on some shawarma, but failing that, they can also drink in the New York-themed bar if they want to as part of Disney's Hotel New York.

A Spider-Man Adventure

Avengers Campus Spider-Man Ride

Spider-Man is one of Marvel's most popular characters and it's only fitting that he gets his own attraction. This is, of course, not to be confused by some of the web-head's themed rides that already exist at Universal Studios Parks.

Titled Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure, guests will swing across the Avengers Campus, trying to catch the robots that are wreaking havoc on the facility. It's sure to be a fun experience and will boast some of Disney Imagineering's most state-of-the-art technology.

The Sanctum Sanctorum

Any fan of the Sorcerer Supreme Doctor Strange will know that his main residence is that of the Sanctum Sanctorum on Bleecker Street. The location has been brought to life in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but fans can now also witness it in the Avengers Campus.

California Adventure will host a show named Doctor Strange: Journey Into The Mystic Arts as part of their Avengers Campus, held in the Ancient Sanctorum which guests can also explore. It's sure to be a lot of fun for the family and is actually an experience lifted straight off of the Cruise Ships.

Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Update

The Guardians Of The Galaxy themed update to the Tower of Terror was just the start of Disney's plans to add a fresh coat of paint to some of their more famous attractions. The Rock 'n' Roller Coaster will be getting its own re-branding, with an Iron Man-themed ride planned instead.

The huge announcement has been as part of years of work to create an exciting new experience, which completely reimagines what guests have already experienced from the ride. The Disneyland Paris Park will be the only place in the world, thus far, to have this update.

A Quinjet Experience

While not opening at launch, alongside an Avengers HQ experience, fans will also be able to ride in a Quinjet (which is the iconic mode of transport for the Earth's Mightiest heroes). This will be far from a basic attraction though, taking fans on a brand new adventure.

It looks as if, from concept art, guests will be transported around the world in the S.H.I.E.L.D. tech to famous locations, like Wakanda, where they will have to do battle with dangerous enemies and familiar foes. It looks to be one of the premium experiences in Avengers Campus.

Multiple Phases

Avengers Campus

The opening of the Avengers Campus has been delayed around the world due to the current global situation. It's currently unclear when guests will get to experience all of these attractions, although forecasts currently put the date around 2021/2022 (depending on the Park).

Much like the other expansions to Disney Parks, these attractions are set to be rolled out in phases. As the popularity of the locations continue to be judged, more experiences may be available down the line for fans. As it stands already, the Quinjet attraction is already set for the phase 2 expansion, with Disney clearly taking a page from the Marvel Studios handbook.
