The fact that the title for Avengers: Secret Wars has already been revealed suggests that the Multiverse Saga's Avengers: The Kang Dynasty won't end with a cliffhanger on the scale of Avengers: Infinity War. The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars were announced by Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige at San Diego Comic Con 2022, much to the surprise of many who weren't expecting such a massive announcement. Both of the titles for Phase 6's climactic movies were confirmed there and then, which differs in comparison to the reveals of Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, where the title of the latter was hidden for months after the release of its predecessor.

After the Infinity War - Part II title was dropped, Avengers: Endgame's title was kept hidden from the public for so long that it wouldn't spoil the ending of Infinity War for those who hadn't had a chance to see it. Since this isn't the case for Avengers: Secret Wars, it could be assumed that the events of The Kang Dynasty might not have a direct impact on Phase 6's final film. The title reveal not only allows patient audiences the chance to get excited about two massive upcoming projects, but also suggests that The Kang Dynasty won't end in a cliffhanger which the title of Avengers 6 could spoil.

Marvel Shouldn't Try Another Huge Cliffhanger

Heroes circled around Vision's body in Infinity War

Even though the end of an MCU Saga is something that should be bookmarked by something huge, it's for the best that Marvel Studios stay away from pulling off another Infinity War-level cliffhanger. Infinity War and Endgame were always billed as two parts of the same story, meaning revealing too much about the latter would have spoiled the impact of the first. This isn't the case for The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars, which are slowly being set up to be two related but separate events. There's no doubt that both films will be massive in scope, but another cliffhanger ending might devalue the effect of Infinity War's powerful ending.

Will Avengers: Secret Wars Be A Sequel To Kang Dynasty?

kang dynasty secret wars sequel connection

The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars are releasing very close together, and were even announced together at Comic Con, suggesting that they are linked. However, the magic of the MCU is that every film shares interconnectivity, so even if Secret Wars isn't a direct sequel, the events of The Kang Dynasty will certainly have a huge impact on the Multiverse Saga's explosive finale. Many separate plot lines have been set up during the Phase 4, which might be hard to finalize in only one film. The Kang Dynasty could deal with Kang the Conqueror, and Secret Wars can deal with other loose ends, while both feature the overarching multiverse narrative.

Everything that happens in Phase 4, 5, and 6 is building up to both Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars, starting with a variant of Kang the Conqueror, He Who Remains, in Loki and the further development of the multiverse in films such as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and the upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Phase 6's huge Avengers events will most likely be on the level of Infinity War and Endgame, but perhaps won't be as connected and integral to each other as their predecessors. Either way, Avengers: Secret Wars will certainly end the MCU's Multiverse Saga off with a bang.
