MCU's new generation of heroes are front and center in an Avengers 5 fan-made poster. Marvel Studios just wrapped up its 23-film Infinity Saga that was more than a decade in the making. Avengers: Endgame culminated the universe's overall narrative with an epic final battle between the heroes and Thanos. The Joe and Anthony Russo-directed movie also marked the end of the road for some of the franchise's founding heroes. This effectively paves the way for their contemporaries to step up and take on the leadership role in the film series.

Out of the six original Avengers, only three are currently present in the primary MCU timeline. Tony Stark aka Iron Man and Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow both met their end in Endgame, sacrificing themselves for the greater good. Meanwhile, Steve Rogers aka Captain America opted to retire from his superhero role, but not before officially passing the shield and mantle to Sam Wilson. Among the remaining heroes, only Thor has a definitive future in Taika Waititi's Thor: Love and Thunder. That doesn't mean, however, that Bruce Banner aka Hulk and Clint Barton aka Hawkeye won't re-emerge to join the God of Thunder and the new batch of heroes in case a big threat makes its presence known.

A digital artist imagines what it would look like when the time comes that the MCU heroes need to reassemble for Avengers 5. In ultraraw26's latest fan poster, he brings together all remaining key players in the universe as they reunite for a brand new threat. Check out the one-sheet below shared on the creator's Instagram.

Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige laid out what fans can expect from the franchise in the foreseeable future during last year's San Diego Comic-Con. Phase 4 and parts of Phase 5 will be a mix of new and familiar faces with the universe set to introduce new characters like the Eternals and Shang-Chi (who aren't featured in the fan-made one-sheet). The universe is also expanding beyond the big screen, with a string of TV series slated for Disney+. Thus far, the MCU has confirmed release dates until mid-2022, but noticeably, there are no Avengers movies in the pipeline. This makes sense considering they're in rebuilding mode again after the Infinity Saga. From the looks of it, there doesn't seem to be any rush to come out with another Avengers ensemble film considering what Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame were able to achieve. If anything, the extended gap between Phase 3 and Phase 4 due to the coronavirus pandemic should've been the case from the get-go just to give the public enough time to come to terms with the events of the Avengers sequels.

While it's uncertain when Avengers 5 will hit theaters, it's safe to say that it will eventually come. Marvel Studios is simply biding their time building a fresh overall narrative, not to mention their newer characters so that they can assume leadership position in the superhero team. That's a smart way to tackle things as they let people get acclimated with an MCU without Iron Man or Captain America. At this point, there's really no need to quickly work their way to another ensemble offering as evidenced by their stacked pipeline even without any Avengers project included.
