The Fantastic Four and Blade could be left out of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, and that decision could be for the best. Marvel Studios is currently developing new solo films for the Fantastic Four team and Mahershala Ali's Blade, which will see them join the Marvel Cinematic Universe shortly before Phase 6 delivers Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. The fifth Avengers movie is expected to be the place where the MCU's new Avengers team finally forms, creating plenty of speculation about who could be on the roster. With the entire Council of Kangs potentially appearing as the film's villain, Avengers 5 could use as many heroes as possible.

Since the MCU is introducing several new heroes so close to when the Avengers will form, the possibility of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty not including Fantastic Four and Blade could be a surprise. Marvel Studios previously used solo films to set up Black Panther, Spider-Man, and Doctor Strange to play massive roles in Avengers: Infinity War. However, Avengers 5 writer Jeff Loveness has teased that the Fantastic Four and Blade could be left out of his Phase 6 movie. There might be a good reason for both absences, though.

The Fantastic Four Matter More To Secret Wars Than They Do The Kang Dynasty

The reason that the Fantastic Four could be left out of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is that they are going to play a much bigger role in Avengers: Secret Wars. The MCU slate does have Fantastic 4 set to be the lead in movie to Avengers 5, but Marvel Studios could alter the Infinity Saga formula by leaving them out. Whereas Black Panther led into Avengers: Infinity War and left Wakanda's characters with a smaller role than many hoped for, keeping the Fantastic Four out of Avengers 5 sets them up to be part of the solution to beating Kang in Avengers: Secret Wars.

The Fantastic Four characters could be among the most important when it comes to Avengers: The Kang Dynasty's sequel. Avengers: Secret Wars writer Michael Waldron has expressed his love of Reed Richards as a character, and that matches up well with the type of role he should play in the final MCU Phase 6 movie. It makes sense that Reed and the Fantastic Four could join the fight in Avengers: Secret Wars, bringing expertise on the multiversal incursions and possibly even Kang's lineage into the movie. This could help further establish them as pillars of the MCU's future after the Multiverse Saga.

Blade May Work Better Being Separate From The Avengers

Blade not being in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty could also be a reflection of his place in the larger franchise. There have been rumors that his solo movie is a prequel set in the MCU's past, so Blade might not even directly set up Mahershala Ali's presence in the main timeline setting. However, the Eternals post-credits scene did provide a hint that Blade is still active in the present, which would allow him to join the fight against Kang potentially. The issue here could be that Blade being in Avengers 5 would completely shift expectations for his MCU future.

Instead of potentially setting up Blade to join the Avengers, Marvel leaving Mahershala Ali out of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty could help keep him and the supernatural corner of the MCU separate. Blade and Werewolf by Night are examples of Marvel's interest in expanding this section of the franchises. While there is plenty of speculation about how both could join the Avengers, not every MCU project needs to connect to Earth's Mightiest Heroes. That could make Blade the leader of the supernatural MCU, which will be clear if he misses out on Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
