Kevin Feige talks about the scale for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars in light of the notion that they could be even bigger than Avengers: Endgame. More than three years since MCU's last crossover event, the MCU is building towards another after Marvel Studios laid out their plans beyond Phase 4, which is officially ending with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The next Avengers movies may still be years away, but comparisons to their predecessors have already started.

Collectively known as the Multiverse Saga, Phases 4, 5, and 6 will wrap up in 2025 with the release of two Avengers films. Officially announced during Marvel Studios' San Diego Comic-Con panel, the next Avengers movies will premier within just months of each other. While Feige didn't get into specifics about the movies' narratives, The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars' respective titles effectively give an idea of what to expect from the blockbusters. That includes their massive scope, as they could very well be much bigger than Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

In an interview with MTV News on the heels of Marvel Studios' successful Hall H presentation, Feige addressed the matter. The MCU architect pointed out that they aren't intentionally making it bigger, but between the storyline and the characters involved, they can't help but increase the scale of their crossover films. Read his full quote below:

"It's never about going bigger just to go bigger. Sometimes by the nature of the number of characters that you have in the toybox to then bring into the sandbox of the story, things can get bigger."

Currently, there are no directors attached to helm the aforementioned films. Despite rumors, Feige debunked that the Russos are coming back to the MCU to helm Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. The producer also said that they do not have anyone tied to the blockbusters at this point which makes sense since they aren't releasing until 2025. Considering their back-to-back releases, not to mention a much bigger story to tell, it's safe to say that the franchise is likely actively looking for Avengers 5 and Avengers 6's directors. Given the lack of official details regarding them, it's uncertain if they will be helmed by the same filmmakers as the Russos did with Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, or if they will have different directors.

There's a presumption that Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars will be bigger than Avengers: Endgame — something that the Russos themselves acknowledged. But the challenge of sticking the landing for the Multiverse Saga will also depend on how Marvel Studios sets it up. Since its current storytelling is faster-paced than the Infinity Saga, the franchise risks not properly laying the groundwork for its next saga-capping double feature. For what it's worth, there's really no need to rush Phases 4, 5, and 6, but it doesn't seem like Feige and his team are planning on slowing down.
