The X-Men and Fantastic Four come together with the rest of the MCU in an epic fan-trailer for Avengers 4. Plot details for MCU's Phase 3 capper are still scant at the moment. Even the film's title is still unknown and according to company president Kevin Feige, fans shouldn't expect it to be revealed until later in the year when marketing for the movie officially begins. However, the film's cast and crew are busy with the scheduled reshoots that will reportedly last the entire summer.

Due to the lack of any official updates, fans are spending their time by scouring the internet for any possible hints as to what may go down in Avengers 4. It's admittedly hard to predict what will happen given where things were left off for Earth's Mightiest Heroes in Avengers: Infinity War, although time travel and the Quantum Realm are two concepts expected to play a part in the film's narrative. Rather than focussing on the film's plot, one Marvel fan decided to visualize what Avengers 4 might look like if the mutants join in the fight against Thanos.

Courtesy of YouTube creator stryder HD is a mock-up Avengers 4 (taking on the rumored "Endgame" subtitle) trailer that brings together the X-Men and the rest of the MCU as the heroes gear up for one last battle against Thanos. The video is comprised of clips and sound bites from several MCU films, as well as a few of the Fox-produced Marvel movies including 2007's Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Watch the trailer below.

Admittedly, it might be a while before the mutants and the Fantastic Four fully unite with the Avengers. If anything, both the MCU and the separate Fox-run Marvel franchise are still treading their long-established plans despite the Fox and Disney deal that may be made official sometime next year. Feige remains mum about the matter, not giving away anything with regard to his plans concerning the X-Men coming to the MCU. In fact, he even doused people's excitement over rampant speculation that the mutants will make a cameo in Avengers 4, saying that it's going to be a few years before fans see them in their cinematic universe.

In hindsight, saving the X-Men and Fantastic Four for Phase 4 (or even Phase 5) makes more sense than trying to shoehorn them in what's supposed to be the culmination of everything that has transpired in the MCU thus far, especially since they have nothing to do whatsoever with the overarching narrative. Sure, they were able to pull it off by introducing Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War, but things are more complicated with the X-Men considering the sheer number mutants, each with their own print history with the Avengers. At least Captain Marvel has had a link in the established lore with her connection to Nick Fury and even Ronan the Accuser (something that will be explored in her origin movie). Unceremoniously adding the mutants to the Thanos' debacle, cool as it may sound, will steal thunder from the original MCU heroes who should aptly be front and center of the story.

Fans will just have to wait a little while to see how Feige and his team will incorporate the X-Men into the MCU, perhaps things will get clearer when they begin opening up about Phase 4. In the meantime, all eyes are on the last two film installments in Phase 3 - Captain Marvel and Avengers 4 - before the 22-film arc that the film series has been treading since 2008's Iron Man comes to a close.
