WARNING: This post contains SPOILERS for Avengers: Infinity War.
We finally have a clue about what the title of Avengers 4 will be, as it "speaks to the heart of the story." Now that fans around the world are soaking in what Marvel Studios cooked up for Avengers: Infinity War, there's a lot of uncertainty surrounding what will follow. The next two movies in the MCU actually take place before Thanos' now world-changing snap. That moment has been a major topic of conversation for Infinity War as it saw over half of the film's heroes disappear as part of Thanos wiping out half of the universe's population.
Being without some of the MCU's newest heroes is just a part of the mystery that Avengers 4 holds, especially since it's believed that most of them will be involved. The story of the movie alone is up for debate with theories of time travel being the most popular. The studio's decision to not even reveal the title has spurred speculation as to what it could be, but now there's an actual hint.
Bustle spoke to the Russo brothers as part of the Infinity War press junket and asked the duo about the title. Anthony Russo responded by finally giving some tease for the title after the two have remained quiet for months. After previously calling the title a spoiler, it turns out it's tied to the film's heart.
We do have a name for it, we're just not announcing it. And I think we came to that name fairly early in the development process. It speaks to the heart of the story.
This is the biggest hint towards Avengers 4's title we've gotten so far. Kevin Feige has said that the secrecy of the title has backfired on the studio, leading to speculation that is now out of control. That could be why the Russos gave this minor insight to what the movie will be called. The heart of Avengers 4 isn't going to be the Skrulls or something like that, so this could eliminate theories of Secret Wars or Secret Invasion.
We've previously laid out our theory for what Avengers 4 could be titled, and it fits with these latest comments by the Russos. The heart the Russos are referring to could very well be the original six members of the team who all are presumed to be alive. Our suggestion, Avengers: Endgame, is both a callback to a line in Infinity War, but would also tease the final mission by the original Avengers. There's several other possibilities as well, such as Avengers: Disassembled or a reversal and have it be Avengers: Reassembled, signifying the group joining forces for the first time in years. Whatever it winds up being, at least now there's a bit more evidence as to what it could ultimately be.
