Update: Set photos confirm Jeremy Renner wears the Ronin costume and we have a theory as to why Hawkeye becomes Ronin in Avengers 4.

The latest images from the set of Avengers 4 show a different take on Hawkeye. Marvel fans are still anticipating the release of a trailer for Avengers: Infinity War, but even before something official from next year's team-up arrives, we've been getting glimpses of the follow-up. Now that Infinity War has wrapped filming, shooting for Avengers 4 is in full swing in Atlanta and a variety of other locations. Thanks to videos and photos from the sets, we already have a good idea of who survives and makes it to the sequel.

Yesterday, a slew of images and videos from the actors themselves revealed a huge cast photo, possibly hinting at the appearances of several unconfirmed characters; not only are presumed heroes like Black Panther, Falcon, and War Machine now on set, but Starhawk, Nick Fury, and Peggy Carter may also be along for the ride. Now we have some set pictures.

A user on Russian social media site VK (via MCU Exchange) has shared a batch of set photos from Avengers 4 that confirm both Captain America (Chris Evans) and Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) are in the film. While they were both assumed to be involved, this is our first concrete bit of evidence. Meanwhile, Clint Barton's new look is further spotlighted thanks to some shots of Jeremy Renner on set.

We got a teaser of Renner/Barton's new haircut a couple of months ago, but it looks like he'll also be stopping by a tattoo parlor in between Avengers 3 and 4. When the new haircut broke, many fans began speculating that Barton would either 'die' or see tragedy befall his family in Infinity War. As a result, Avengers 4 would see him go darker (ie. get tattoos and a mini mohawk) and take on a new persona.

In the comics, a similar change of identity happened when Hawkeye began operating as Ronin. The move saw him channel the skills taught to him by Swordsman when he was young. It also opened the door for Kate Bishop to become the new Hawkeye.

Even if Barton is just in some sort of disguise, the images still provide us with some confirmation of a character undergoing a change between films. Naturally, more alterations in the status quo will be involved, but Hawkeye looks to undergo the most noticeable transformation. The film may also set up the circumstances for fan-favorite Kate Bishop to enter the MCU, perhaps in her own TV show. With Avengers 4 shooting through December, we should get a lot more looks at the film soon.
