Reshoots on Avengers 4 will begin soon and will actually finish the movie according to Mark Ruffalo. Marvel fans have been anxiously awaiting to see even just a glimpse at what Marvel Studios is planning for Avengers 4. Directors Joe and Anthony Russo have kept almost everything a secret, with not even the official title being revealed to this point. Such a reveal isn't coming until the marketing campaign begins, which will finally show off the first footage from the film. They may be holding off on showing a trailer, not only to give Captain Marvel the spotlight for the time being, but also because not everything has been filmed.

Avengers 4 is set to undergo reshoots this month, just as every other blockbuster film does. Who exactly will be involved has yet to be made clear, but they will reportedly add more of Black Panther and Wakanda. According to star Mark Ruffalo, there will be much more than just some extra Wakanda scenes being filmed: They're actually going to finish the movie.

Mark Ruffalo was a guest on The Marvelists Podcast and was asked about the status of Avengers 4. Ruffalo reveals that the cast will be returning for reshoots this month before starting to do press for the film, but it's how he described what they're filming that caught the interest of fans. Ruffalo says the reshoots are to "finish the movie." He said:

Well we're doing reshoots starting in September. And then we'll go back into the international tour, we'll go on tour. Then you guys will get the second installment. Which we don't even know what it's gonna be yet. We're not just doing reshoots, we're going to finish the movie, which we really didn't get to finish totally when we left it last year.

The immediate thought process that begins when Ruffalo says the reshoots will finish the movie is that these reshoots are filming the ending of Avengers 4. Whether those scenes have been shot before or not is unclear, but those would be huge moments to just now be filming. However, doing the final scenes at this point would make it so (potentially) none of the actors actually know the film's ending to this point. But, if they have already filmed an ending, then reshooting it will obviously spark speculation over what is changing. It won't be to include Fox characters as the Disney-Fox merger isn't yet complete, but it could alter the fate of some characters, specifically Dave Bautista's Drax.

However, there's also the less shocking and arguably more likely option: that reshooting the ending isn't exactly what Ruffalo is saying will happen. He doesn't directly say they're re-filming the ending or filming it for the first time. Instead, the entire reason studios do reshoots is to finish the movie in a sense. Reshoots/pickups are always done with the intention to improve the film and Marvel always builds them into their production schedule. Ruffalo may just mean that they are literally finishing the film because they'll be doing the final bits of shooting for Avengers 4, and not that they're redoing the ending. If any set photos leak from the reshoots though, they could clue us in to what exactly Ruffalo means.
