Joe and Anthony Russo address the possibility of them filming fake scenes to prevent any potential spoilers leaking out to the public for Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4. The brothers, who are on their third and fourth Marvel film after delivering Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War, are tasked with executing the franchise's culminating projects that will bring together all heroes of the series against their biggest and baddest adversary yet, Thanos (Josh Brolin).

Kicking off principal photography for Infinity War and its still-untitled sequel in January 2017, Marvel Studios has been very careful about what information comes out with regard to their upcoming ensemble flicks. Mostly, filming was done behind closed doors. However, due to the occasional outside shoots, fans were treated to photos of some of the actors involved, which then became the source of rumors and speculation about the movie's narrative. While fans are eager to theorize, the last couple of photos from the production have become so confusing that some started wondering whether a few of those are just being worked on for the sake of distracting us from the real thing.

Sitting down with MTV's Happy Sad Confused podcast, the Russos discussed working on Infinity War and Avengers 4, teasing fans about what we can expect on the flicks without giving anything too big away. While talking about spoilers, the directors were asked whether they filmed anything extra just to keep paparazzis and set lurkers off the trail, to which Anthony candidly answered: "We're too tired to shoot anything that's not going in the movie." Of course, that doesn't mean that they didn't, but at least we know they're being honest when they admitted that the year-long filming was draining. Good thing, there are two of them to juggle the task they have at hand.

For the record, filming some decoy scenes to dupe prowlers and prevent spoilers from leaking isn't necessarily a new thing especially in high profile films and movies. In fact, Game of Thrones, which is notoriously tight-lipped about future plot points has practiced the same thing, will reportedly film multiple endings to the show in order to preserve the secrecy of the story for fans to fully enjoy at the right time - though stars have refuted the report. With the magnitude of the upcoming Avengers movies and the effort that Marvel Studios has gone through to make sure nothing gets out before it's supposed to, we really can't blame the Russos if they decided to go the extra mile and shoot unrelated stuff to help their cause.

While principal photography on Avengers 4 has already wrapped, the Russos' job isn't finished yet. Post-production is still ahead of them, which can be equally tiring especially considering the amount of VFX and number of filmed scenes they need to cut and put together. On top of that, there are reportedly additional pick up scenes that need to be filmed in Scotland later this year, not to mention any reshoots for Avengers 4 if necessary. Of course, prior to its May release, the brothers are also expected to do some more press rounds for Infinity War.
