Everything The Avengers: Endgame Trailer Didn't Tell You

Captain America in Avengers Endgame with Doctor Strange Ant-man and Captain Marvel

The Avengers 4 trailer is finally here, but despite revealing the title - Avengers: Endgame - and catching up with the surviving heroes, it actually hides an awful lot about next year's MCU culmination. That should hardly be surprising. Marvel has increasingly marked itself out with secretive marketing campaigns, and that goes double for the latest Avengers movie; they've been so silent on this film that even the trailer release was a topic of much speculation.

But that doesn't mean that details aren't out there. This is a movie the previous 21 MCU entries have been setting up and we've carefully been piecing together the clues. Fold in set photos that tease major events, enticing artwork and sneaky hints from the cast and crew, an image of Avengers: Endgame has formed that the teaser trailer has only hinted at.

Jumping off from our thorough breakdown of the Avengers: Endgame trailer, here's everything related to the movie that wasn't revealed.

Captain Marvel Is On The Team In Avengers: Endgame Too

Captain Marvel and the Original Avengers

The team in Avengers: Endgame is predominantly made up of the original heroes from 2012's The Avengers, all of whom conveniently survived the snap for one last rodeo. However, the core six aren't the only ones involved, despite their focus in the trailer. As the post-title stinger reveals, Ant-Man will join up, and after his time in the Quantum Realm will surely have some knowledge essential in beating Thanos. And he's not the only hero absent from Avengers: Infinity War who's going to be key to the Endgame.

Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel will also play a key role in Avengers 4, using her immense Binary powers to turn the tide against the Mad Titan. Her arrival was first teased in Infinity War's post-credits scene and she's since appeared in full art of the team. Despite this, Carol doesn't appear or even get a mention in the Avengers: Endgame trailer. While this is in part due to Marvel not wanting to distract from her debut solo movie coming in March, it could also be a result of the trailer focusing on the very early part of the film.

Also on the team in Avengers: Endgame but not in the trailer are War Machine and Rocket. Both survived and have been seen in Avengers 4 art (the former with a snazzy nanotech suit), so will presumably appear at some point later in the marketing campaign.

How Ant-Man Escapes The Quantum Realm

Scott Lang in the Quantum Realm in Ant-Man and the Wasp

The last time we saw Scott Lang, he was not in a good place - literally. In Ant-Man and the Wasp's mid-credits scene, he was in the Quantum Realm (collecting healing particles to help Ghost) just as Thanos snapped his fingers; when Hank Pym, Janet van Dyne and Hope van Dyne turned to dust, he was trapped in the microverse with no obvious route of escape. The Avengers: Endgame trailer ends revealing that Ant-Man does get out and makes his way to Avengers HQ to try and help the surviving heroes.

What it doesn't show, however, is exactly how he escapes. And while at the moment it's all just a theory, there are clues dropped in previous movies that suggest his route to freedom. Before going into the Quantum Realm, Janet (who survived there for 30 years) tells him to avoid "time vortexes". Dangerous under normal circumstances, these would be a major asset for someone trapped in the dimension. Especially given where the Avengers 4 story is going...

The Avengers' Plan Is Time Travel (In Some Form)

Thanos and Time Travel in Avengers 4

"This is going to work Steve," says Black Widow to Steve Rogers, revealing that the Avengers have some sort of plan in Endgame. Like any real semblance of plot, that is not explored further by the Avengers 4 trailer itself. However, thanks to the long lead-in to the movie's marketing, we have a good idea of what it is: time travel.

It's long been theorized that Avengers 4 will be, at least in part, a time travel film thanks to set photos showing the cast on a recreation of the Battle of New York from The Avengers, specifically multiple versions of Tony Stark joined by Ant-Man. The implication taken has been that the heroes will try and use the Quantum Realm (and those time vortexes) to go back to the events of previous movies and, through some altering of the timeline, avert or undo Thanos' actions.

Of course, none of that is overly teased here, likely because it's all a bit much considering how much can be revealed otherwise.
