UPDATE: Read our Avengers: Endgame trailer breakdown.

The first trailer for Avengers: Endgame has confirmed a new April release date. Marvel Studios finally let the secrets out when it comes to Avengers 4. The brand new Avengers: Endgame trailer just arrived, offering the first pieces of footage, the official title, and a brand new release date.

The trailer release has been highly anticipated for MCU fans waiting to learn some information about Avengers 4 and even what it would be called. However, one area that the upcoming blockbuster was still generating plenty of attention was its release date. Marvel previously dated the film for May 3, 2019, but after moving Avengers: Infinity War up to the end of April this year, it had been theorized, and even suggested, that Marvel should also move Avengers 4 up.

The first trailer for Endgame came to a conclusion by confirming just this. Although no specific date has yet been announced, the trailer confirmed that the fourth Avengers movie will hit theaters in April. Marvel has now released the first teaser poster for the movie too, which confirms the exact release date for Endgame is April 26th.

Marvel went to great lengths to protect spoilers from Infinity War surfacing during the marketing campaign and that was one of the main reasons behind the release date change there. This is undoubtedly part of the reason behind Avengers 4 also getting moved up, as it would be impossible for Marvel to put the movie in international markets a week early and spoilers not immediately making their way online. The same release date nearly across the world should guarantee that all fans get to go in to Endgame as clean as possible.

Of course, the release date change may be the smallest announcement that came from the trailer as a whole and showcases a different marketing strategy for Endgame. With Infinity War, Marvel made waves at various points in the marketing campaign by rolling out unexpected news. There was no title reveal needed for Infinity War, but the first trailer was the only announcement that came that day, and the release date change was an event of its own.

With Marvel squeezing the title, first footage, and new release date reveals into a single moment, the implications of the decision could be big. On one hand, this could just be Marvel finally letting the rumor mill on Avengers 4 largely die down by making all these announcements simultaneously. But, it could also signal that additional surprises await. Now that the marketing for Avengers: Endgame has begun, fans will just have to wait and see how it all unfolds before next April.
