UPDATE: Read our Avengers: Endgame trailer breakdown.

Marvel Studios released the first Avengers: Endgame movie trailer. Marvel Studios marked the 10th anniversary of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2018 with three new releases: Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War and Ant-Man and the Wasp. All three were (mostly) well received by critics and fans alike, while the former two also broke a number of box office records each. Now, fans are looking ahead to 2019, when Marvel Studios will release another three entries in the MCU. First, Captain Marvel will introduce Brie Larson's titular hero, then Avengers: Endgame will wrap up the story of the MCU thus far, and Spider-Man: Far From Home will kick off Phase 4 with another adventure following Peter Parker (Tom Holland).

Of the three, Avengers: Endgame is arguably the most highly anticipated Marvel Studios release of 2019. Not only will it conclude Phase 3 of the MCU, it will also pick up from the cliffhanger ending of Avengers: Infinity War, in which Thanos (Josh Brolin) collected the Infinity Stones in the Infinity Gauntlet and snapped his fingers, effectively turning half the universe to dust. Since many of the universe's heroes were erased, only a few remain, including original Avengers Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner). Other heroes to survive include Captain Marvel and Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), who will also appear in the upcoming movie.

Now, Marvel has released the very first trailer for Avengers: Endgame, teasing what comes next for the heroes who survived Thanos' snap, called the Decimation, which wiped out half of life in the universe. The trailer also finally confirms the official title of Avengers 4 to be Endgame, which was widely speculated but shot down by directors Anthony and Joe Russo. Further, the trailer confirms a release date change for Avengers: Endgame from May to April, but doesn't reveal exactly which day in April 2019 the movie will hit theaters. Take a look at the trailer below.

Avengers Endgame Poster

As perhaps could have been predicted, the Avengers: Endgame trailer picks up with each of the original Avengers following the Decimation. Tony is stranded in space after being left on Titan without most of the Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange and Spider-Man. However, Nebula was left on Titan with him and it's unclear where she is, though she may also be on the ship we see Tony in. Back on Earth, we see Captain America having a particularly rough time with losing to Thanos and Black Widow tracking down Hawkeye (who's become Ronin at this point), while Bruce Banner and Thor are briefly shown. Lastly, Ant-Man appears at the end of the trailer, seemingly having rescued himself from being stranded in the Quantum Realm in the post-credits scene of Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Altogether, it's a fairly standard Marvel Studios trailer, but it previews arguably their biggest movie yet and will no doubt be dissected by fans hoping to learn every secret it reveals about the upcoming film. Whether the Avengers: Endgame trailer and title reveal deliver on the hype for the movie is up to the fans, especially after what seemed to be a prolonged wait. But with Avengers: Endgame now releasing in April instead of May 2019, at least fans have a little bit of a shorter wait for the actual movie than previously believed.
