It's been three years since Tony Stark and Bruce Banner shared the screen, but Avengers: Infinity War will reunite the Science Bros and add a new layer. With Avengers: Age of Ultron sending the Hulk riding off into the sunset, the MCU broke apart one of its most dynamic pairings; Tony and Bruce have been separate through their respective adventures in Captain America: Civil War and Thor: Ragnarok.

Thankfully, Avengers 3 will start with Bruce crashing to Earth and quickly meeting back up with his fellow Science Bro. When Bruce returns, however, he'll be changed. Thor 3 established that his changing into the Hulk could soon be permanent, while Bruce's time with the God of Thunder revealed a lighter side of the reserved scientist. Tony and Bruce's team-up with Doctor Strange and Wong should also add another new wrinkle to the brainy duo.

During Screen Rant's set visit for Avengers: Infinity War, we heard from Mark Ruffalo about how Bruce's pairing with Tony has changed and what the doctor thinks of the whole Civil War snafu:

"Well coming out of Thor 3, Banner's had a life changing experience in Thor 3 that makes him much more expressive and not so internalized, you know? So it's not combative but they're not so in-sync as they were. Plus, Banner doesn't understand Civil War. He just doesn't get it."

Both Thor and Bruce sat out of Captain America: Civil War, so their take on the entire ordeal should be an interesting way to examine its ramifications moving forward. And given the adventure on Sakaar and Asgard the two had, Tony and the other Avengers will have plenty to process about Bruce and Thor's absence too. But though some changes have occurred, Ruffalo assured the Science Bros will be back at it.

"Oh yeah, there's great Science Bros. stuff. There's good Science Bros. stuff. We're paired up again."

We learned from EW's Avengers: Infinity War coverage that Wakanda will be an essential part of the film. It also seems that at least Banner/Hulk will end up there for the big battle with Thanos' forces. According to Ruffalo, the reveal of the advanced nation will greatly impact the Science Bros and their understanding of science and technology. But both he and Chadwick Boseman think the shift will be for the better:

Boseman: You definitely see where some of the gap is...You see where the gap is and what some things we're able to do that they're not able to do and that one you will definitely find.

Ruffalo: There's no way to overcome what they're facing without in some way coming to terms with their differences and embracing their diversity. That's essentially a core value of the film and that together, only together, can they triumph.

We've seen images and bits of footage showing Tony and Bruce back together, but we've yet to experience what their updated relationship will be like. Hopefully, the full trailer for the film will reveal more of their pairing. We don't yet know Tony and Bruce's role beyond Phase 3, but Avengers: Infinity War and its follow-up should give fans of the Science Bros plenty to enjoy.
