Infinity War Will Explore Scarlet Witch & Vision's Relationship

Elizabeth Olsen reveals that Anthony and Joe Russo's Avengers: Infinity War will explore Scarlet Witch and Vision's romantic relationship.

It appears that Anthony and Joe Russo's Avengers: Infinity War will explore Vision and Scarlet Witch's romantic relationship. For those that don't know, Vision and Scarlet Witch, aka Wanda Maximoff, have maintained a long-standing relationship in the comics, with the two eventually marrying and beginning their own co-titled limited series, The Vision and the Scarlet Witch. So, when Joss Whedon introduced the two characters in Avengers: Age of Ultron in 2015, played by Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen, respectively, comic book fans knew where their relationship would be heading.

Although the two didn't share much screen-time in Age of Ultron, that's something that the Russo Brothers elected to change in Captain America: Civil War last year, with the two having several flirtatious moments, along with moments of betrayal. Since they are both confirmed to appear in next year's Avengers installment, people have assumed that their relationship would continue to blossom, barring any bumps in the road due to the fact that they were on opposite sides of the superhero civil war, with regard to the implementation of the Sokovia Accords.

Although people know the general premise behind Avengers: Infinity War, actual details are being kept under wraps, and understandably so. However, that didn't stop Olsen from confirming that her character's relationship with Vision will further develop in the upcoming team-up movie, telling WGTC:

"In any other world I would say, 'I don’t know,' but because there are paparazzi photos that kind of spoil things for fans – I think it’s safe to say that we now get to explore that part of the comic book. We get to introduce and really explore their relationship. It creates a really exciting arc for me and I’m so lucky I get to work with (Paul) Bettany all the time now. [laughs]"

The actress' point about paparazzi photos spoiling the movie for fans is somewhat true, seeing as several set photos and videos have emerged online over the past few months. In regards to Vision and Scarlet Witch's relationship, specifically, photos and videos from the Infinity War set did leak earlier this year which showed Bettany and Olsen kissing. Interestingly, though, Bettany was out of Vision's typical costume during that scene, thus possibly indicating that he found some way to create a more human-looking body. It could also mean that he found a way to survive, as a human, after Thanos presumably stole the Mind Stone from him.

The news affirms beliefs that the upcoming Avengers film will further explore Vision and Wanda Maximoff's romantic relationship that was initially teased in Civil War. At least people know that there are no hard feelings between the two heroes. We'll just have to wait and see how it all unfolds when Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters next summer.
