The Marvel Cinematic Universe is heading to Hogwarts, thanks to the reveal of a new shooting location for Avengers: Infinity War. Before the titans of the MCU can collide in an effort to take down Thanos next year, there's still a lot of ground left to cover. Next week, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will continue the cosmic adventures of our favorite team of misfits. Later this year, Thor: Ragnarok will likely introduce the final Infinity Stone and tee up the events of next year's epic. And along the way, heroes like Spider-Man and Black Panther will need to come into their own.

By this time next year, however, we'll be on the verge of Marvel's most unique film yet. Part of the nature of the team-up will include a lot of globe-hopping as our heroes work to stop Thanos and his minions. So far, that worldwide scope has led to filming occuring in a number of different locations. Thanks to eagle-eyed fans and reporters, we've also had no shortage of Infinity War set photos and videos. Between them, we've seen Vision and Scarlet Witch grow closer, the Black Order attack, and trouble in Scotland. Now, it's looks like England will play a role as well.

Thanks to some sleuthing, The Tab has discovered that the famous Durham Cathedral will serve as a shooting location for Avengers: Infinity War. There's no word yet on which stars will be present for the shoot, but given the grandiosity of the location we can likely expect a hearty scene to unfold there. Of course, the crew would do wise to obscure things a bit, as many fans will instantly recognize the courtyards, halls, and towers of the building from the Harry Potter franchise.

In the Harry Potter movies, the cathedral serves as many of the backdrops for Hogwarts. Its various grounds house a lot of the Hogwarts school yard scenes, and many walk-and-talks took place in the various hallways of the building. Most notably, the massive dining hall that plays a huge part in the Harry Potter series was filmed in the neighboring castle. With so much history in the Wizarding World, we wouldn't be surprised if the Infinity War scenes being shot here features a Harry Potter Easter egg.

The UK won't be the only Earthly shooting location for Infinity War. Thanks to a report earlier this year, we know the action of Infinity War also takes place in New York. Considering it's only just begun recovering from 'The Incident', we doubt New Yorkers will be too pleased to see their city once again under siege. Luckily, they've gained plenty of new heroes since the Chitauri invaded. Hopefully, the planet will make it out in one piece when the chaos of Avengers: Infinity War arrives.
