Shooting is well underway for the Russo Brothers' upcoming Avengers: Infinity War, and it looks the booming cast has just added another familiar face to its ranks, with Tessa Thompson.

Although we are officially yet to meet Thompson in the MCU, Thor: Ragnarok will mark her first appearance as the warrior Valkyrie. Chris Hemsworth has been without an on-screen romance since Natalie Portman parted ways as Jane Foster and many have hoped that Thompson can neatly fill that gap. Now it looks like Valkyrie's involvement in Marvel's superhero universe won't just be limited to playing the female protagonist in Ragnarok.

There has been a recent flurry of activity around the film and several snaps have been taken from an ongoing shoot in Scotland. Planned to roll for up to six months, the Infinity War production is currently focused around Edinburgh. A picture from Twitter (see below) confirms that not only will Thompson reprise her role for Infinity War, but it also seems to indicate she will be alongside the rest of the Avengers:

Speaking to EW in March, Thompson was cagey on whether she would be involved in the XL superhero team up:

“You never know where people will pop up. In the next phase, the hope is to find ways to interweave all these characters, and certainly with Infinity War, those are the culmination of a lot of work since Iron Man. She’s part of the tapestry now. For me, it’s exciting to join at a time with young actors like Brie Larson and Chadwick Boseman and Michael B. Jordan. We’re all hopefully going to meet in one of these movies.”

The news seems to fit with the rest of the cast too; currently, it seems that the Guardians team of Star-Lord and co. are doing their filming in Atlanta, while the Avengers side is setting up camp in Edinburgh.

Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo were spotted on the Infinity War set recently, so Valkyrie's inclusion could tie-into Thor and Hulk's return to Earth after their buddy-trip to space during Ragnarok. We don't know yet how the events of Ragnarok will pan out until its November release, but it is safe to say that Thor, Hulk, and Valkyrie will be making it out of the Grandmaster's arena alive and back in time for Infinity War. We should probably presume that a post-credit scene from Ragnarok will set up the trio's inclusion in Infinity War.

We already hoped that Thompson would get a bigger part to play post-Ragnarok and her role in Infinity War could neatly define her future in the MCU. Branching out from the world of Thor, Valkyrie is a key member of the Marvel squad and had fought alongside the likes of Doctor Strange, Hulk, and Namor as a Defender. It is currently unknown what part she will play in Avengers: Infinity War, but Thompson will certainly be flying in when the movie hits theaters a year from now.
