Karen Gillan discusses the Avengers: Infinity War shooting schedule and promises Nebula and Thanos will hash things out. While much of the cast and crew from Infinity War has moved on to shooting Avengers 4, there's still a lot we don't know about next year's epic. With Marvel currently promoting Thor: Ragnarok, the studio seems to have taken a page out of Lucasfilm's book and kept things relatively quiet. Still, the stars of the movie have been able to hints at what's to come.
With promotion for Infinity War likely to begin very soon, we recently heard from Benedict Cumberbatch about what we can expect from the movie and Doctor Strange's role. Not long before that, Winter Soldier actor Sebastian Stan compared his character to Jon Snow from Game of Thrones. And Vin Diesel has continued to tease the teenage version of Groot we'll see more of in the film. Now, we have some word from another Guardian of the Galaxy.
Den of Geek spoke with Karen Gillan yesterday and asked her about next summer's Avengers: Infinity War. While she wasn't able to go into details, naturally, she did confirm that her character Nebula will confront Thanos in the movie.
“I’ve been sworn to secrecy. But I definitely think that all of what we’ve been building towards, with all the backstories between Nebula and Thanos, is definitely going to come to a head in the Avengers film, and she’s definitely going to confront all of those traumatic memories. I definitely think she is going to have her moment.”
While the father-daughter dynamic between Nebula and Thanos has been teased before when it comes to Infinity War, it's important to remember their real relationship. The Mad Titan kidnapped both Nebula and Gamora, pitting them against each other in deadly combat. And as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 revealed, Thanos regularly tortured and experimented on Nebula. Given all of that, the moment Nebula and Thanos confront each other should be both cathartic and violent.
Gillan also confirmed that once Avengers 4 is done shooting in December, everyone will kick the new year off with Infinity War reshoots. Additional shooting is par for the course when it comes to blockbusters, and a movie the size of Infinity War will certainly have a lot of things to clean up and augment. Not to mention all the end credits scenes the film will likely have, as those are generally shot during reshoots. With the film only seven months away, we shouldn't have to wait too much longer for some concrete information on Avengers: Infinity War.
