Star-Lord and the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy will be appearing in Avengers: Infinity War, and Chris Pratt has revealed he has almost finished filming his part. With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 still a couple weeks away from hitting theaters, most of the general public does not know how the movie - or its five post-credits scenes - will help put the Guardians on the necessary trajectory to cross paths with the Avengers. However, with the Guardians cast being some of the first to report to set, they're sure to play a sizeable role.

An early production teaser for Infinity War gave the first glimpse at what this crossover could entail with Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Star-Lord standing together on a mystery planet, and it was recently revealed that the Guardians and Avengers will first cross paths in space. Even though the movie is still over a year away and the shoot expected to keep going for a few more months, some roles are already close to completion.

Pratt spoke to Toronto Sun about the Guardians' upcoming film, but also discussed what it was like being involved in the biggest film in Marvel Cinematic Universe history. He admits that there was a period where he didn't know if this crossover was going to happen, and mentioned how - now it's filming - Star-Lord's role is almost wrapped.

"I was never sure how that would happen or if that would happen, but then they announced it and called us and told us it was happening. We’ve shot most of it — my stuff — and I can tell you, the fans are not going to be disappointed. It’s going to be really freaking cool."

Pratt and the rest of the Guardians cast are not currently filming Infinity War as they do the press circuit for Vol. 2, and Pratt may have to wait even longer to suit back up. He has already started work on Jurassic World 2, which could keep him busy for some time. This is hardly a surprise for Marvel and they've surely scheduled around his filming schedule and will bring him back later in production to complete Star-Lord's role if it's necessary

It's worth noting that the question that prompted this response referred specifically to Infinity War, so it is always possible that Star-Lord and the rest of the Guardians will be back for the fourth Avengers film. Indeed, it was just revealed that the movies are no longer filming simultaneously and will instead be shot back-to-back as two separate films, meaning if the Guardians are returning (which is likely), Pratt and co. wouldn't be needed until August.

All of the GOTG actors have made it clear that they are not leading roles in the next two team-up films but they will still serve as key roles that add levity to the dire stakes at hand, something that will excite Avengers and Guardians fans alike.
