UPDATE: Marvel has issued an updated Avengers 2 premiere sheet that reveals only ONE new cast member. See Below.

Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron has been playing it rather conservatively when it comes to revealing information about plot, characters, and connections to the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe. Many fans hope that the Avengers 2 trailers and TV Spots showing off mostly the same footage are in fact preserving a richer and unspoiled theatrical experience - with twists and surprises to boost the already-high hype.

Well, today we have an official reveal from Marvel: two previously-announced actresses are also starring in Age of Ultron; although, fans may NOT want to get too excited for the prospect of a Captain Marvel casting confirmation just yet.

Marvel sent out a press release for the Avengers 2 premiere to media outlets, and even though we were one of many to receive it, /Film was the site that alerted us to two intriguing additions in the cast listing: Julie Delpy (Before Midnight) and Linda Cardellini (ER, Mad Men):

Both Delpy and Cardellini are talented actresses, but given their respective ages (both in their '40s), it's somewhat hard to believe that they'd be suiting up as someone like Carol Danvers (aka Captain Marvel).

By the same token, both actresses were significant enough to include on the premiere cast listing - and yet, their respective involvement has been virtually unseen, unheard of, and isn't listed anywhere on IMDb. /Film reportedly followed up with Disney and confirmed this is NOT a misprint on the premiere sheet, so it is official.

UPDATE: Well something must've not been all that official, because Marvel has now re-issued the Avengers 2 premiere sheet, and Linda Cardellini's name is in a very different place:

Of course, Marvel movies are big enough to pull all kinds of actors for even the smallest of bit roles. Avengers had a cameo by Alien and Big Love star Harry Dean Stanton; Captain America had Community star Danny Pudi as a S.H.I.E.L.D. tech agent; the Iron Man films hand out celebrity cameos like candy - the list goes on. Point being? In a world-spanning Marvel superhero tentpole film, Cardellini and Deply could anchor a wide variation of bit roles - or roles to be explored in future Marvel films.
