Warning! Spoilers for Avengers #52 by Marvel Comics

As the Avengers are battling against some of the most dangerous threats in the Multiverse, their teammate that's considered the best hope in saving reality just received a massive power upgrade. In Avengers #52, Deathlok tells the superteam Starbrand is considered the greatest Avenger ever of their timeline. The child hero ends up being transformed in a shocking moment making the hero even more powerful.

The Star Brand is one of the strongest powers in the Marvel Universe, as wielders have near-infinite power when wielding the cosmic marking. The current wielder of the Star Brand is Suzanna Shelby, who obtained the powers after her mother died in childbirth. The Avengers ended up taking in the powerful infant, as she lived at Avengers headquarters. However, after the Marvel Universe was nearly changed for good in the events of Heroes Reborn, Suzanne returned to her timeline aged up to a kid. Now, Starbrand is getting another power upgrade in the wake of the Multiverse opening up like never before.

In Avengers #52 by Jason Aaron, Juan Frigeri, David Curiel, and VC's Cory Petit, the Deathloks, who protect the Multiverse, meet with the Earth-616 Avengers seeking out the greatest hero ever of the era. It turns out they're talking about Starbrand, whose "sunlight shines on all corners of creation." Before the Avengers can even react to the revelation, the team is attacked by Black Skull and the Ghost Goblin. Despite being told to stand back, Starbrand uses her powers to take down the villains. However, after using her powers to stop the Ghost Goblin's skull bombs, Starbrand emerges from the smoke as a seemingly fully grown hero.

Captain Marvel and Captain America can only stand in shock as the fully grown Starbrand emerges from the smoke. Starbrand even tells them they're acting like they've "never seen a little girl with the Starbrand before?" Clearly, using her powers in the Multiversal battle transformed Starbrand into an even bigger (literally) hero.

It remains to be seen what Starbrand is capable of in her new form. But, it doesn't seem like she's aged up in real-time as she did during the events of Heroes Reborn. Instead, this version of Starbrand, the supposed greatest Avenger ever, still seems to think she's a little girl - unless she's being sarcastic with her remarks. The hero's upgrade likely comes with more control and capabilities with her powers. Time will tell if that's a good thing or a bad thing for the Avengers. Starbrand transforms in Avengers #52 by Marvel Comics, in comic book stores now.
