Avatar: The Last Airbender is undoubtedly one of the most influential shows ever created. It has great writing, proper character development, an atmospheric soundtrack, and a visually striking animation style. Besides, it has dynamic action sequences that are so hard to find.

One of the lead characters - and incidentally a fan favorite - is Katara who is considered the last Waterbender of the Southern Water Tribe. Like other characters on the show, she is quite complex, but to understand her personality better, it's worth considering her Hogwarts House which appears to be Hufflepuff.

To become the Avatar, Aang had to master all four elements one after the other. Obviously, it's impossible for him to master them on his own - he needs other benders to teach him how to bend their respective elements.

During one of the discussions about his learning path, Katara takes a particular stance believing that the only way for Aang to become the Avatar is by practicing bending and studying vigorously - something only a Ravenclaw could say.

Hufflepuff: "Get Over Here, Zuko. Being Part Of The Group Also Means Being Part Of Group Hugs."

Though Zuko was initially the antagonist of the show, he gradually realized his mistakes and went on a journey to become a better person. Eventually, he decided to join the Avatar team and help them restore peace.

During one of the group hugs between Aang, Sokka, Katara, and Toph, Zuko is hesitant to join. But Katara quickly changes the mood welcoming him as a true Hufflepuff would.

Not Hufflepuff: "Think About It. The War Is A Century Old. You Don't Know About It Because... Somehow You Were In There That Whole Time. It's The Only Explanation."

Katara has always been an exceptional example of a well-written female character. She had grown and developed throughout the series, proving that she deserves her status as a fan favorite.

One of her least discussed traits, however, is her smartness. She can figure out many things in different situations when others catch on only a little later. No wonder she demonstrated her Ravenclaw abilities at the beginning of the first season when she realized why Aang was so clueless after being discovered in ice.

Hufflepuff: "But Now You're Not Letting Yourself Feel Anything. I Know Sometimes It Hurts More To Hope And It Hurts More To Care. But You Have To Promise Me That You Won't Stop Caring."

Being an Avatar is extremely difficult, especially during times of war. Aang's disappearance only made the situation worse and his age made it even more difficult for him to manage the burden that he got so unexpectedly.

Naturally, Aang gradually realizes he can't let himself be worried about everything, so he shuts down and doesn't want to care. But Katara sees what this can lead to and advises Aang to remember to care because that's the only way he can make the right decisions. A real Hufflepuff move.

Not Hufflepuff: "Aang: This Is Exactly Why I Didn't Want You To Come. It's Too Dangerous! / Katara: And That's Exactly Why We're Here."

Katara is known for being a very cautious character. In fact, she is often called the "mom friend" of the group because she constantly tries to protect everyone, even if they don't like it most of the time.

But at the same time, Katara won't hesitate to get into a fight if it means protecting those she cares about. That's exactly why she could potentially be a Gryffindor.

Hufflepuff: "Aang, I Know You're Upset, And I Know How Hard It Is To Lose The People You Love. I Went Through The Same Thing When I Lost My Mom. Monk Gyatso And The Other Airbenders May Be Gone, But You Still Have A Family. Sokka And I, We're Your Family Now."

Katara is an extremely empathetic person. She is able to understand what others are feeling and address their fears and concerns. Being empathetic is definitely a Hufflepuff feature more than any other house's.

When Aang realizes that his people were murdered by the Fire Nation and his teacher Monk Gyatso is just as dead, he even enters the Avatar State in his rage and grief. Reassuring him that he has a family, she manages to calm down Aang.

Not Hufflepuff: "The Stars Sure Are Beautiful Tonight. Too Bad You Can't See Them, Toph!"

Katara hugs herself as she falls in Avatar: The Last Airbender.

One thing many fans forget about Katara is that she can be a real badass when she wants to. She knows how to be sassy and her Waterbending abilities are surely much higher than average.

A particular remark of hers may even show some Slytherin tendencies in her. Everyone knows that Toph likes to joke about her blindness, but a joke about this coming from Katara is something less expected.

Hufflepuff: "Katara: You're Being Too Hard On Yourself. Even If You Did Run Away, I Think It Was Meant To Be. If You Had Stayed, You Would've Been Killed Along With All The Other Airbenders. / Aang: You Don't Know That. / Katara: I Know It's Meant To Be This Way. The World Needs You Now. You Give People Hope."

Besides being able to empathize with others, Katara seems to be able to persuade them quite well through this empathy. Diplomatic abilities are probably more characteristic of Ravenclaws or Slytherins, but the way Katara does it is more suitable for Hufflepuffs.

When calming down Aang after they found out about the Airbenders' fate, Katara tells him that this was meant to be, but his survival means that he will save the world. His is the hope everyone needs. Only a Hufflepuff could put hope above all else.

Not Hufflepuff: "You Can't Knock Me Down!"

Katara in Avatar The Last Airbender

Katara is the kind of person who doesn't give up easily. She will keep doing what she needs to do even if it is hard. That's what makes her such a valuable member of Team Avatar.

Her match with the Waterbending master who refused to teach her is a perfect example of this. Katara knows she can prove him wrong, so that's what she does in true Gryffindor spirit.

Hufflepuff: "But He's Special. I Can Tell. I Sense He's Filled With Much Wisdom."

When Katara and Sokka first find Aang in the ice, they bring him to their village where not everyone is optimistic about him. But Katara sees the potential. She senses that he is special and that he is important. That's exactly what a Hufflepuff would feel because they are good at understanding people.
