The titles for the upcoming four Avatar sequels may have already been revealed. James Cameron is looking to turn his 2009 smash hit into a full-fledged franchise with a slew of follow-up films on the way continuing the story of Jake (Sam Worthington), Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) and their newfound family. Despite being repeatedly pushed back, production is currently underway with the director filming all films back-to-back.

Specific plot details with regard to the Avatar sequels are still scarce at the moment, but aside from leads Jake and Neytiri, demised characters Dr. Grace Augustin (Sigourney Weaver) and Col. Miles Quaritch (Stephen Lang) are also expected to return. It's still unclear how their resurrection will go about, but Cameron has previously confirmed that Quaritch will still be a villain. While the filmmaker and his team are hard at work shooting the films, new information has just emerged hinting at what fans can expect on the forthcoming sci-fi blockbusters narratively.

A new report from BBC reveals what could be the four official titles for the upcoming Avatar movies, namely, Avatar: The Way of Water, Avatar: The Seed Bearer, Avatar: The Tulkun Rider and Avatar: The Quest for Eywa. According to the article, the British media outlet "has seen documentation regarding future Avatar plans which makes reference to four specific projects...The documents refer to the projects both with and without Avatar as part of the title." Cameron's camp and Warner Bros. have yet to confirm or deny the report and it's best to treat this as a rumor for now.

That said, it's not difficult to assume that these could be the Avatar sequels' official titles. As the report pointed out, The Way of Water is backed up by comments from Cameron teasing a "tremendous amount of water work across Avatar 2 and 3." Kate Winslet's soon-t0-debut character is Metkayina, a free-diver and a member of the Sea People. Meanwhile, Avatar 4's rumored title, The Quest for Eywa might refer to the guiding force and deity of Pandor and Na'vi. Eywa is believed to be who keeps the ecosystem of the habitable moon.

The information comes on the heels of a couple of significant updates with regard to the sequels. First, Weaver revealed that they have finished filming the first two follow-up films, and have now begun work for the last two. Shortly after that, the film's official Twitter debuted a brand new logo, noticeably devoid of the memorable Papyrus font. Despite this, Avatar 2 is still more than two years away. Considering Cameron's goal to introduce a brand new technological breakthrough in terms of filmmaking in the sequels, just like he did with the original movie, it's safe to say that he'll need the lengthy time during post-production to ensure that the films are nothing but polished visual feasts.
