Warning! Spoilers for Avatar: Adapt or Die #1 by Dark Horse Comics

The world of Avatar returns in Avatar: Adapt or Die, a new six-part miniseries from Dark Horse Comics that will explore Pandora's early days. A prequel to James Cameron's box-office smashing Avatar film, the new comic from Corinna Bechko (Lara Croft and the Frozen Omen, Invisible Republic), Beni R. Lobel (Constantine, Voltron), Wes Dzioba (Avatar: Tsu'tey's Path, Ghost), and Michael Heisler (Tomb Raider, Mass Effect: Foundation) will follow Dr. Grace Augustine as she's caught between two worlds.

Avatar was a technologically groundbreaking 2009 film by James Cameron (Titanic, Terminator 2: Judgment Day) features a group of humans using Avatars to explore Pandora, where the Na'vi live in a world too poisonous for humans. The human explorers had different motives for visiting Pandora, as Dr. Grace Augustine (Sigourney Weaver) wanted peaceful relations with Na'vi, helping them learn English. However, Parker Selfridge (Giovanni Ribisi) wants to mine the planet for its valuable Unobtanium. The story features former marine Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) falling in love with the Na'vi Neytiri (Zoe Saldana), as he ends up fighting to save Pandora and its wildlife from colonizers. Avatar is currently the highest-grossing film of all time, with more than 2.8 billion in worldwide gross. Avatar 2 is set to come to theaters in December, with multiple sequels also being ordered.

Taking place decades into the advent of the Avatar program on Pandora, the comic will feature Dr. Grace Augustine beginning her quest for peace among humans and Na'vi, as she enters negotiations to open a school for children. However, her plans for unity could lead to even more problems in the future. Check out the cover for Avatar: Adapt to Die #1 from Dark Horse Comics below.
