Avatar: The Last Airbender introduced viewers to an array of powerful characters with incredible abilities. These characters showcased their physical and emotional strength in many ways and made it easy for children and adults to love the series early on. There are many strong characters from the series, and the women are ranked among some of the most powerful.

Princess Yue
Princess Yue meets the Avatar gang when they arrive at the Northern Water Tribe, and she and Sokka become close instantly. She tells Sokka that she nearly died as an infant, but the Moon Spirit saved her. After the Moon Spirit is killed by Admiral Zhao, Princess Yue sacrifices herself to become the new Moon Spirit.
Princess Yue's dedication to her people and doing the right thing make her an admirable character. Princess Yue also shows that she knows a lot about ATLA's Spirit World and her role in helping the Avatar. She may not be the strongest physical fighter in the series, but she shows her strength by her willingness to sacrifice her life in order to restore balance.
Smellerbee
Smellerbee's determination and loyalty to her friends prove that she is another strong character. Smellerbee is a member of the Freedom Fighters and is close friends with Jet and Longshot. Smellerbee took on the role of the voice of reason regarding Jet's plans against the Fire Nation and proved to know a lot of facts about Avatar's antagonizing faction.
Smellerbee was a strong character because of the loyalty, standing by Jet during his retaliation against the Fire Nation. Smellerbee also continued to stay with Jet after they ventured to Ba Sing Se, showing that she cared for him deeply and was willing to stand by him. June
June proved to be a powerful character right away. June is a bounty hunter hired by Zuko to track the Avatar. June showcased immense intelligence by using her Shirshu to track whoever she was hunting. June is also a lone wolf and doesn't show allegiance to any nation, making her a force to be feared.
June is one of the strongest women because of her intelligence and skill in hunting bounties. She's a capable mercenary, and she uses her shirshu to help her in intense battles, as well. June also shows that she holds no loyalty to anyone but herself, making her extremely self-reliant.
Hama
Hama was first seen as a harmless woman, but she quickly showed that she was a Waterbending master. Hama was taken from the Southern Water Tribe and imprisoned because she was a Waterbender. As a result, she taught herself how to blood bend and escaped from captivity. She spent her days capturing villagers from a Fire Nation village until Katara stopped her.
Hama was a fierce bender and a strong woman. She showed that she had an incredible amount of willpower and that she could persevere any obstacle in her life. Hama also proved that she was vengeful and wanted to get back at the Fire Nation, making her someone who doesn't forget when they're wronged.
Mai
Mai is one of the most skilled fighters in the series. In each battle, she uses throwing knives and shows she is a skilled marksman. Mai is one of the fighters chosen by Azula to aid in her mission, which says quite a bit about her combat prowess. However, Mai is also highly intelligent and stands up to Azula when it comes to defending Zuko.
Mai is one of the strongest women in the series because she is a skilled fighter and doesn't need bending in order to win a battle. She is extremely intelligent and can make her own decisions, deciding for herself what is right. She also proves that her ability to be extremely loyal to Zuko is her character's greatest strength.
Ty Lee
Ty Lee is the other fighter that Azula chooses to join her on her mission, and Ty Lee's abilities prove that she is a powerful character. She is not a bender, but she is a very skilled fighter and uses chi blocking to subdue her enemies. Ty Lee also shows that ,despite her fear of Azula, she is willing to do the right thing no matter what.
Ty Lee is a strong character because she has an excellent fighting ability and her chi blocking has the ability to take away someone's bending. Ty Lee has a very likable personality, and she is able to easily make friends despite also being a fierce competitor.
Suki
Suki is the leader of the Kyoshi warriors and showcases her fighting ability from the first moment she is introduced to fans. Suki teaches Sokka how Kyoshi warriors fight, and the two become close, eventually becoming a couple. Suki showed loyalty to the Avatar early on, and she even helped Appa when he and Aang were separated.
Suki is one of the strongest women in the series because she boasts a fantastic fighting ability, and she also shows that she is able to stand up for what she believes in. Suki shows great loyalty to those she cares about and shows her strength in standing with the Avatar to save the world.
Azula
Azula is by far one of the strongest women in the ATLA universe. Azula is Zuko's younger sister and a fire-bending prodigy. She is tasked with hunting down Zuko and the Avatar after Zuko failed to capture him. Azula proved to be a master bender and also a master manipulator, typically getting what she wants from the other characters in the series.
Not only does Azula possess great fire bending abilities, but she is a fast learner and can quickly learn a new branch of bending. Azula proved herself to be a strong dictator who could easily manipulate those around her. Azula had some insecurities stemming from her childhood, as well, but they only proved to make her a stronger character overall.
Katara
Katara is a beloved character from the ATLA universe. She is kind, courageous, and deeply loyal to those close to her. Katara pushed through adversity in order to be taught water bending by Pakku, proving that she is willing to fight for what she believes in.
Katara is one of the strongest women because she perfected her bending ability by sheer determination. Katara also proved that she is a loyal friend and stands by Aang and Sokka as they fight for justice against the Fire Nation. Katara shows a lot of compassion, even for her enemies, which shows that she has a big heart.
Toph
By far the strongest woman in the series is Toph. Toph is only 12 years old when she is enlisted to teach Aang earth bending, but she proves to be a master of her element immediately. Not only is she an earth bending master, but she also is the most powerful earth bender in the series and the discoverer of metal bending.
Toph proves early on to viewers that she is the most powerful in the series; even though she has been blind since birth, she uses earth bending as a way to see the world around her and fight her enemies. Toph also proves to be a strong character by her loyalty to Team Avatar and her determination to stand by the Avatar and restore balance to the world.
