The fire Na'vi tribes and potential new creatures of Pandora's volcanic regions set to debut in Avatar 3 are imagined in three new compelling pieces of fan art. The third installment in James Cameron's Avatar saga was shot simultaneously with Avatar: The Way of Water and is currently set to hit theaters in December 2024. Like the sequel, Avatar 3 will continue the journey of Jake Sulley (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri's (Zoe Saldana) family, exploring previously unseen corners of the Pandora world and new factions of Na'vi.

In a post shared to the Avatar subreddit, Reddit user tbrow200 shared their own take on what Avatar 3's new fire Na'vi tribes could look like in the upcoming 2024 sequel.

In the artwork above, the artist envisions that the Na'vi from the volcanic regions would possess greyish-blue skin and yellow eyes, wearing dark makeup and jewelry made from volcanic rock. The Reddit user also conceptualizes what the wildlife of the volcanic Pandora regions could look like, being filled with jagged rocks and active volcanos, while the Na'vi tribes ride on six-legged, fire-breathing, salamander-like lizards.

How Avatar 3's Fire Na'vi Tribe Could Change The Film Series

Ahead of Avatar: The Way of Water's release, Cameron teased what audiences can expect from the series' third chapter. Following the introduction of sea-faring Na'vi in the second film, Avatar 3 would introduce a new Na'vi tribe known as the Ash People, whose culture was based in Pandora's volcanic regions, differing from Neytiri's tribe in the original film. Led by Game of Thrones star Oona Chaplin's Varang, the Ash People is described by Cameron as a darker and more aggressive force when compared to prior Na'vi groups and will play a more antagonistic role in the film's narrative.

With the Ash Tribe set to play a more antagonistic role in Avatar 3, the upcoming film will deviate from the previous film's approach to the Pandora world. In prior films, while there has been some friction between members of the Na'vi groups, humanity has always played a more antagonistic role through the RDA's colonialist attempts to seize Pandora's resources. However, with Avatar: The Way of Water establishing that Earth is in a dire state and introducing a more antagonistic Na'vi group, it is clear that future Avatar installments will add further complexity to the story.

With Avatar 3 introducing new Pandora regions, it adds anticipation to how Cameron will further bring the world of Pandora to life. As such, the Redditor's artwork is a fine depiction of what the Ash People Na'vi tribe could look like ahead of their on-screen debut, incorporating elements of the potential region into the typical Na'vi character design. Though audiences may have to wait some time for their first official glimpse at Cameron's sequel, the artwork is sure to leave some viewers imagining what vivid worlds and creatures Cameron has designed for future adventures on Pandora.
