Attack the Block has been one of the most talked about movies of the year and justifiably so. After making a huge splash at the South by Southwest film festival, the U.K. sci-fi flick was quickly picked up by Screen Gems for distribution and now it's poised to blow audiences minds across the country.
If you haven't had the pleasure of checking out either of the previous trailers for Attack the Block, you can watch the first trailer here and the second trailer here. If neither of those did the trick for you, we've got something even better.
One thing that the previous trailers hinted at was Attack the Block's gritty action and no-holds-barred humor. In the newly released red band trailer, we get an even better look at the film and how a bunch of kids from the hood take on an alien invasion force. Check it out below.
Attack the Block has earned nearly unanimously positive critical reviews and represents an impressive accomplishment for writer-director Joe Cornish as well as producer (and genre-mashing master) Edgar Wright.
Selling a sci-fi film in these nerd friendly times is easy, but selling one that takes place in such a unique setting is much more impressive. Big sci-fi movies like Battle: Los Angeles have lots of special effects dollars behind them, but who would have thought that a U.K. housing block would make for such an entertaining battleground for an alien invasion?
Attack the Block has already been released in some theaters. If you're in a major city, thre odds are good that some theater will be playing it. Still, it's an indie film and it's not going to be everywhere. Check your local theater listings to see if it's coming to you.
In the meantime, for those who have seen Attack the Block, feel free to share your thoughts on the film in the comments.
