Sal Abbinanti and Andrew Dabb's beloved Cold War sci-fi Atomika: God Is Red is coming to Kickstarter. While the official launch will happen next week, the pre-launch page is now live, giving fans a chance to get in on the ground floor of a huge omnibus edition collecting the cult comic. The omnibus will include the full story as well as exclusive covers and pin-ups from acclaimed comic artists.

Published between 2005 and 2011, Atomika: God Is Red follows the Soviet Union's creation of an incredibly powerful being (the titular Atomika) which it declares the God of Technology and the Twenty-First Century. Atomika goes on to battle the other nations of the world, creating a new Red Empire, and finally faces the former gods of Russia in an epic battle to decide the future of the world. The story takes superhero narratives to their logical conclusion, as a post-human being becomes a god to Earth's populace and sets about creating what's intended as a brighter future.

Created by Andrew Dabb (a writer on CW's Supernatural and Netflix's upcoming Resident Evil) and Sal Abbinanti (who recently funded his original graphic novel The Hostage through fans on Kickstarter), Atomika is celebrated by fans as a hidden gem of the comics world. An art representative for comic giants Alex Ross and Bill Sienkiewicz, Abbinanti originally worked on the project in his spare time, tapping major industry talent for contributions. The omnibus edition accordingly includes art from Simone Bianchi, Simon Bisley, Tim Bradstreet, Claudio Castellini, Travis Charest, Gene Colan, Glenn Fabry, Gary Gianni, David Mack, Angel Medina, Eddy Newell, Alex Nino, Lucio Parrillo, Eric Powell, John Romita Sr., Steve Rude, Arthur Suydam, and Michael Turner. Revealing its full goal and backer tiers next week, the pre-launch Kickstarter page for Atomika: God Is Red is now available for fans to request notification on launch.

GOD-IS-RED-ATOMIKA

With appropriately imposing art and ambitious storytelling that takes this premise to its earth-shattering conclusion, Atomika: God Is Red sees a living god reach the edges of his power, facing both supernatural enemies and those who feel he's gone too far. Ultimately, Atomika is forced to ask whether he is a god or a devil, though his conclusions deserve to go unspoiled for anyone encountering this story for the first time.

Originally self-published, Sal Abbinanti and Andrew Dabb's Atomika: God Is Red returns to its hard-won fanbase with a Kickstarter campaign to collect the entire series, along with art even the most devoted follower hasn't seen before.
