A new teaser for Atomic Blonde really plays up the film's style. In the movie Charlize Theron plays an international super-spy who journeys to Cold War-era Berlin to battle an evil espionage ring that has gotten its hands on a list of agents and is bumping them off. With its intricately choreographed action, stylish neon-drenched visuals and spy-thriller storyline, the film promises to be equal parts John Wick, Kingsman: The Secret Service and John Le Carre (but much sexier).

The advertising for Atomic Blonde has largely emphasized the action elements, showing Charlize Theron fighting multiple enemies in various settings while steering away from any plot reveals (trailers have only vaguely referred to the notion that Theron gets double-crossed at some point in the story and seeks payback). David Leitch of John Wick fame directed the film, so it's no surprise that it's packed with fights that play out like meticulously-designed death-ballets, with the star being asked to perform an endless array of physics-defying fight moves.

In the new TV spot for Atomic Blonde posted on the film's Twitter page, we get a fresh glimpse not only of the fights but of the damage the film's lead character incurs as a result of them. Check it out above.

Charlize Theron in Atomic Blonde

As the tease shows, this isn't the kind of movie where the star kicks some butt and walks away unscathed, as we can tell by the state of Theron's face in the clip's opening shot. Another shot shows an exhausted Theron bathing her bruised body in a bathtub full of ice water - this is going to be a tough fight.

The real pain Theron went through in making Atomic Blonde was well-documented when the film showed at SXSW, with the actress describing how she chipped several teeth in the back of her mouth by clenching her jaw shut while filming the movie's action scenes. Among those action scenes, the stairway fight has already taken on semi-iconic status just from the trailers, drawing comparisons to similar scenes in Captain America: Civil War and the Bourne movies.

With Atomic Blonde coming after Fate of the Furious and Mad Max: Fury Road, Charlize Theron has now cemented her status as a genuine top-drawer action star. Based on a graphic novel by Antony JohnstonAtomic Blonde also stars James McAvoy, John Goodman, Til Schweiger, Eddie Marsan, Sofia Boutella and Toby Jones.
